Tranny leaking on Y-pipe??? Yikes!

My recently aquired 67 Bronco 289, has a slow leak from the Transmission and it leaks right on the y-pipe making a bad smell. The leak seems to be coming from the drain plug bolt.

I am thinking that if I drain it and replace the gasket on the drain plug bolt and add some teflon tape to the treads it should fix it. If that was the leak.

Do y'all think that this will fix it, assuming this is the leak spot???

What fluid goes in the tranny and how much????

Where else might be the leaks sorce, are there any common leak spot for these old 3spd trannies????

Should I put any kind of friction modifier in with the fluid???

Thanks in advance,

no gasket on the drain plug its a pipe plug teflon tape should help but thats not a usual spot for leaks if its leaking there you will either find that the drain plug is loose or the case is cracked from over tightening the plug. it could be the t case adapter to tranny joint might have loose bolts or the gasket is bad. other common spot is the seals on the shift levers bad part about that is you have to tear the tranny down to replace them.
Common 75-140W gear oil is whats used or anything in between that. No friction modifier needed thats only for limited slip diffs. Wont hurt anything if its already in the oil but its not needed.
