Are parts available to rebuild the transfer case J-shifter? Are there any shops that can do the work? Mine is in rough shape and need the bushing/cup and springs replaced. Any photos would be appreciated. Thanks.

I got my seals and bearings from wild horses. good quality stuff.
the rebuild itself is really easy. any tranny shop could do it, but you're going to pay tranny shop prices for it too. sorry, I don't have any pics of when I did mine.
if you have a garage (or counter top), and basic hand tools, you can do it.

How about the service manual?
http://www.classicbroncos.com/dana20/dana_20_manual.htm

The rebuild isn't difficult at all. Basic hand tools for the most part. I dial indicator might help, and there are some bearings that are easiest to deal with if you have a press. I paid a shop $20 to press some bearings off and on for me.

The last prices I remember for a shop to rebuild the Dana20 was around $300 labor, + parts.

Thanks for the information. Trying to rebuild the j-shifter for a quick fix. I have a twin-stick, but understand the t-case must be removed to install?

I've seen them done in place but those have had to cut a big ugly hole in the floor. It's good you have a "J" shift type because with the "T" you have to get into the transfer case to install the twin stick setup.

oh whoops.

what I meant to say was...
I got a new and improved version from James Duff. real nice piece, and a drunk monkey could install it.
