What are you guys running for passive transmission coolers and where are you mounting them? I got one and I think its too big, trying to figure out a way to mount it in front of the radiator.

Thanks!

I bought one from Summit, the lines are custom built due to the 5.0/4R70W conversion with Explorer 4.0 radiator. This is in addition to the internal radiator cooling. It has to be thin to clear the grill

I get them from Fords in the junk yard like the one above, gotta shop for the thinner ones and get them in front of the radiator for air flow, I run 2 in series on my trail bronco.

I used a Chevy 1 ton work truck cooler from a junk yard the Chevy coolers have bigger ID inlets and outlets than the ford coolers, I bypass the stock radiator cooler and keeps the temps pretty good.

FYI: The orientation of your trans cooler is not recommended...as it will maintain an air pocket on the top of the cooler and significantly reduce its capacity to do its job...

Tube and fin design (PS) is OK...But stacked plate design coolers should not be oriented with the input/output connections pointed down...IMHO

P.S. Looks like a nice build!

I put mine under the floor of the drivers seat, with it's own fan.
I wish I would of tried harder to fit it up front with the radiator.

I went with a B&M purchased at a local auto parts store, cut two 1/2" metal strips to hang it on the right side, the left side is bolted to the core support. This has been in service for ~7 years and works great.

I did similar to BronCowie- just to the side of the radiator behind the front grille. Bought it with the mounting brackets on Summit. She runs nice and cool so far at this location.

I run an explorer cooler with a 10" fan mounted on top of the passenger fender well towards the back. It works great there because it gets air from the hood vent also. I had no room in front of the Radiator because of the A/C condenser.
