Contemplating mounting one under the driver seat floor and face cutting a hole for the front and welding the face in so it looks factory. Not going with a aux fuel tank and would like to use the space. Thoughts?
Sounds interesting. I am putting slide out drawers in the rear of mine with a shelf at bed height. That way I basically have a trunk, even when the top is off. I am also putting in a tailgate lever that has a keyed lock. So you can lock the tailgate itself and secure the trunk.
I think every reproduction body made now, and the replacement floors, should have the option of driver side floor dropped to match passenger side. SO many things I would do if I were one of the big companies doing high dollar builds.
I am doing a custom floor for mine. My friend did a project like mine and I am using his build as the template for my Bronco Project.
These are a couple of his build pictures. He is a killer fabricator and has taught me a lot. That work was done by Glen Straightiff of Complete Fabrication. His was a race Bronco, but mine will be a 4 seater toy.

I agree it would be nice as part of a new body. It would be great for someone to come up with a drop-in solution for existing bodies. Icon4x4 has an under-seat drop in but it's specifically for the sub woofer and does not have direct access.
