297, that Black/Green wire is definitely not a ground. It "originates" at the ignition switch as the Accessory Power wire. It's hot in ACC or ON and, among other things, powers the fuse panel for those fuses that are hot with the key ON. That 297 wire shows up in several of the 73-74 wiring diagrams, as well as diagrams for all the other years.

Curious as to why you would install a 40 yr old wiring harness...?

So 297 goes on the screw on the back of the ignition switch.

I'm on a budget and the harness appears to be in great shape.

I ripped out every piece of wire in my 70,I just don't trust any of it,starting fresh with a Centech kit from Wild Horses,good luck,Jim :cool:

1 other question. I do not have an aftermarket tach so I am wondering, do I just run the negative from the coil to the main ground for the engine?
