Thanks to ddrass jogging my memory, I called the company today. They are expecting to release the first production run on this wheel the first week in Oct.

http://www.wheeltechintl.com/sltdetail.php4

The first run will be 17x8, 5 on 5.5 with 4" backspacing. The price is yet to be determined. When it is "official" you will deal directly with wheeltech. I am only making good on a statement I made in March, "you know, if you made this wheel in 5on5.5 I bet you could sell quiet a few" :) I will be running this wheel with 39 Krawlers on them.

More info on SLT muscle mags

1piece cast al. Standard finish is "mirror machined finish", does have a light coat of clear. POLISHED is available for an extra charge. GAWR is 3800 for both axles.
Cost is $190-IF we can get 12 people/sets we will get a volume discount to be set by the boss when he returns.
15's will be released MAYBE next spring, depending on the strength of the 17" sales.

Can't argue with that price. I'm officially ditching my plans for a set of one offs. I don't particularly like the kidney-shaped slots (I prefer the more trapazoidal ones, like on the M/T Challeners), but at that price, you can't go wrong. What'sthe difference between mirror and polished finish? Count me in on a set of 5.

I'd only be in for 15". I would think they'd sell more 15" with the retro look, but what do I know. Could you explain the diff. in the finishes? Most 'polished' wheels have a mirror finish, while 'machined' finishes aren't usually 'mirror'. I'm just confused here. I'd want as close to a non-mirror, non-chrome machined look as they used to be.

On zooming in on that pic, the centerbore looks very large and close to the lug holes. It only needs to be about 3 3/4". What does that centerbore measure? Do you have any larger pics?

In no particular order:
The mirror finish is a more "shinny deal" and the polished is above and beyond that-almost shinny chrome like. Maybe some metal heads will chime in here. I run MT classic IIs on the street eb and that is the mirror style finish.
The center bore is 4" which will clear the hub on D60s-I don't know how they thought some people ran D60s in ebs :)
Send me your email and I will fwd a better res. pic to you-I am still working on my pic posting skills.

tripleb@bellsouth.net

The 15's will be a later release at best......spring '07

Ok, that makes sense. Thanks for the clarification. I have some Centerline Hellcats on my Rubi and they were offered in Polished and Chrome. I have the Polished, which are less shiny to begin with than the chrome, and are only shiny if you want to keep them that way. Mine have turned into more of a Patina. ;D The Polished would work on the slots for me.

The size of the centerbore still concerns me though because of how close it is to the lug holes. 4" is too much, but that centerbore in the pic looked even larger. It actually looks like it's cutting into the lug holes some. Maybe that wheel in the pic is 5 on 4.5? At any rate, is it possible to get a centerbore more like 3.75"?

My goodness guys, go measure some current aftermarket wheels and heck even some old ones;case in point:
The opening on both sets of my trail ready al. wheels are 4inches-old style from '03 with the smaller rounder hole design pattern and from '04/5 the larger hole Mickey al. copies. For good reference I dug out the wheels that were on my '74 when I bought it several years ago. From 1980-chrome spoke desert rat syle spoke wheels with L70-15 TIRES ON THEM-still holding air, yep 4" center hub opening, hum..........
FWIW

Which made me wonder if that pic is a 5 on 5.5", but I'd guess it probably is. In any event, large 4" centerbores are unnecessary on the EB with stock axles. I have a pic here, of a Stroppe slot, but I guess my contributor status expired so I can't upload it (doh!). There is a LOT more metal between the centerbore and the lug holes. If these wheels are being made for EB's, why not get 'em right? Or at least have a bore available for us stock axle guys. JMHO. ?:? In reality, I'm just glad someone is making these again apart from the American Racing ANSENS. :p

I'd love to end up getting a full set for the wifes EB. Just curious tho. with 17x8 would you need much lift if your staying unlifted for awhile. Sorry nvr actually delt with being able to afford to buy rims LOL. Always used whatever was on the vehicle. I'm trying to talk her into ending up with 2-3"BL and 3.5" suspension. But it being uncut i'm not sure tire sizes that i'll end up being able to fit.
