Vintage Baja images on 100 Cars You Must Drive TV show repeat

Finally caught the episode featuring the Bronco on my DVR.

I don't know how to capture the video, but I got some screen shots with my camera of some of the different vintage Bronco footage. Hopefully they look OK...

Odd that the show is called "100 Cars You Must Drive", but the host did not have a Bronco there to drive like he usually does?

I don't think I have seen the paint scheme on PJ's #71 (with Bill Stroppe in 2nd seat) and #45 (with Al Unser in 2nd seat) before.

I saw that when it first aired & remember how bummed I was when he talked but didn't drive one. %)

Of course if he had driven one they would have changed the name of the show to "The 1 Bad Ass Machine you need to drive!" ;D

You got some great shots there, Drew! I have that episode here somewhere on a VHS tape - need to get it transferred to DVD, at least. The paint scheme on Oly in those shots was on it in its first season of racing and corresponded with PJ's sponsorship by Johnny Lightning of his open wheel cars at that time. Note that Oly was known as "Crazy Colt" at that time - many people assume there were two different trucks (perpetuated by Madigan's comments in the Stroppe "Boss" book) when in fact Crazy Colt and Big Oly were one and the same.

The truck in the upper right corner of your collection of shots is the one you drove around the grassy field a few years ago in California. Look familiar?

Todd, I thought that might be the same one!

I caught part of that episode air a few months back, but missed the Bronco segment. It did not re-air for quite a while, luckily I saw it in time to record it this time.

I do not have my "smart TV" feature hooked up yet, so I probably can not capture the video onto my PC until I do that at some point.

I think there was some other footage of your racer on there as well. I will try to get a few more pics tonight.

Thanks for sharing! It also appears that the second one from the left on top is the one that is now in the museum in Reno. I think that is the earliest race photo I've seen of it.

Pics of one of Rod Hall and Larry Minors racers that is in the Off Road Hall Of Fame...The Bill Stroppe & Son decal with the cactus is one of my favorites. There is one like that that Stroppe put on one side of the Balloon Chaser Ambulance Bronco as well.
