• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

I have a 1971 Bronco and it is a 3spd and I am looking to change it to automatic. If anyone has a column close or will ship one let me know. Thanks

I have one out of a 73 Bronco. I am willing to ship, I live in Lincoln, NE. t It is complete but it will need cleanup at a minimum. Let me know if you want photo's or additional information. John

I used a 73 column when I changed my 77 to an auto. It worked fine, but did require some modification. 73 is an oddball year for auto columns. There is no provision for the hazard switch. I also had to modify the steering shaft (column shaft) so I could use my stock shaft between the steering box and column.

None of it was that big of a deal. For the turn signal switch, I just cut a slot for the hazard switch, did some clearance grinding, and was only able to use two of the three mounting screws (it's still very solid). That allowed me to use the newer style switch. The shaft mod was a bit more involved (to do it safely) but still not a big deal.

I'm not sure if any of this will be an issue for you since you are dealing with a 71. Just some food for thought.:)
