Warn hub stuck on axle

I need to remove the warn hub from my axle.
I got the allen head bolts off along with the outer portion of the hub and the large snap ring.

The inner gear is stuck on the axle splines. My guess is the axle splines were a little chewed up. It took a little effort to get the hub on when I had the axle out.

I tried to pry it off without luck. I was able to get an allen wrench behind the hub but could not pull it off with vice grips. It wouldnt budge.

Any suggestions?

I have this same problem. The best suggestion I have heard so far is to try and remove the knuckle, spindle, and brake/hub/rotor assembly as one piece, then pull the axle out from the back. Not sure if it will work, but it seems like it would be worth a shot before breaking out the sawzall and ruining the hub by cutting them apart.

Rustyshackelfor- it worked. Thanks

The c clip that goes around the gear is damaged. I am guessing the local hardware store is not going to have a replacement. I assume I will have to try and get one from Warn.

Can I drive the truck without the hub internals? I was thinking I could install the large spring, the inner portion of the hub, the snap ring then the outer portion.

Basically, I would be driving without the two internal gears.

Are they the Premium hubs ? I had the same problem and swapped them across the counter , lifetime warranty !

You are talking about the snap ring on the back of the locking hub assembly , right ?
