Weld Your Own Protofab Bumper - Kit Form

Has anyone purchased a protofab bumper in kit form and welded it up themselves?

My concern is that I'm sure protofab has jigs and fixtures that keep everything square as they weld which I wouldn't have access to, curious if I could fixture everything down well enough myself to reduce warpage. I'm looking at the rock blocker w/ tire carrier btw

I'll call protofab this week and see what the cost savings is for the bumper as well as shipping, if it's significant I may give it a shot. Seems like a fun project

Maybe tack it then weld it like stitches instead of trying to do all one pass (the way you weld sheet metal to keep it from warping).

Should be an interesting project.

I called em years ago about getting a family cage unwelded to save $$. They took like $50 off. I just bought a bender and built a couple for far less money.

Personally I'd just buy the bumper already done and go pick it up in person. Their shop is about an hour north of Phoenix. You'll likely save on shipping, and get a Bronco themed road trip out of it. I've had my Protofab bumpers drug through all sorts of rocks and even had the back my bronco hanging from the bumper couple of times with absolutely no damage other than scratching the powder coating. They are well worth the money! Roll cages and bumpers are not where you want to skimp and save a few dollars.

I could see a cage to be shipped in pieces but a bumper I wouldn't think there would be a big savings.
Protofab builds very nice bumpers. The only thing I could do is screw it up, and I can weld.

Hello,

As a Protofab dealer and long time EB owner i can honestly say I have never had an issue with any Protofab product.
They are best known for the cutting edge designs but also for industry leading welds. I agree do not skimp on safety

*** mass buy time ***

Go to the Protofab web site and pick any product you would like pricing on with or without shipping and let me know here or by email or phone and I will get you your CB mass buy discount price to you.
