What year and what's it worth? (Super stock and original)

Hey everyone,

Been lurking for awhile and haven't pulled the trigger on a Bronco yet. I mainly collect Mopars but I grew up in a 66' Bronco and until the current owner of my dad's old ride decides to sell it I'll need to tide myself over with another one. I have one local that looks to be owned by an elderly couple and its used to tow their boat. This thing looks totally solid and uncut. I believe its an automatic on the column. The Passenger side seat even has a towel draped over it to protect it from the sun. I've uploaded a few photos.

Could you tell me what year it is and what a fair price is for it? I'd like to offer something solid that they don't turn down but I want to come out ahead.

Looks like a 1972, it has been repainted at least once, and it probably is a three speed not an automatic. It also looks like they do not want to sell it. LOL

Yeah well it's worth a shot! What gives away the repaint? And I didn't check the column for Auto or Manual as I didn't want to get too close to it but I did see that the shifter knob looked like an automatic one (If there's a difference?)

If it was an automatic, it would probably be up in the "Park" position based on it being parked and motionless. The three speed column shifter of course looks similar but folks often park them in first gear (down below dash/door top level).

The white overspray behind the grill,red overspray on the door gasket, and the dent in the grill tells me it's been repainted.

Ahhh makes sense!! Any idea what a fair price is for it?

You might have to get closer to it to really get a fair assessment of value because rust never sleeps. You'd need to know condition of door post, floors, cowl, etc. If it needs a ton of metal work then you need to pay accordingly. Assuming it runs and drives it's likely to still need the drive line gone through - unless the owner can show where they've already done that.

It's a pretty straight looking truck but you really need to know more about it before you can throw cash at the owner.

You can get into a couple thousand at least just rebuilding the front-end with u-joints, bushings, ball joints and tie rod ends. If you need outside help, add their labor. Rebuilding the drive line u-joints, yokes, seals etc, same thing. Add more depending on how much you farm out. If you can do all the welding if it needs body work, you can get away fairly reasonably. If not, it will cost a lot. Body and paint can go way above $10,000+ if done outside. If all of it is done outside, figure $20,000+ depending on what quality job you want to do.

I don't know if this will be at all helpful but I have a '73 all original, bought off the showroom floor by my great great uncle, no rust or dents, original paint which is in really good shape. 110,000 miles, no leaks, runs and drives great (after a few recent repairs). I've been told by 3 different people, but have no definite answer that 10 - 15k would be a reasonable amount for it.

If it's fairly rust free, and the mileage is reasonable, then chances are that it would be a good driver without much work. A good buffer would do wonders for that paint.

Get more info on it. Could be $5k to $10k, maybe more.
