Had a guy stop by to pick up some 5.0 parts and he mentioned he has a 351 GT-40 lower intake he'd like a $100 dollars for. Dont know much about them, how to identify, etc. How can I tell if its not just a 351 truck lower intake? What upper would I need for it? Thanks for any info. SB

goin to need the upper to go with it. The 351 gt-40 has staggered round ports while the factory truck one has ovals all in a straight row.

That's a steal. The going rate if you can find one is $300-500. The upper is easy, because the 5.0 GT40 upper is the same and still available. Also, a Mustang Cobra and I believe the Explorer upper have the same ports and will work.

$100 is dirt cheap for that intake. It looks like this.

This is what GT-40 lower for 351W looks like. And "Yes" $100 is a great price. If you don't want it, please let me know and I will buy it! I am looking for one. Thanks.

351 lower is roughly an inch wider than 302 at intake, right? Looks like I'll be spending 100 tommorrow. Thanks SB

How do I tell if its a 302 or 351??

Yeah the 351W lower is about an inch or so wider versus the 302 lower. You'll be able to tell as soon as you see it in person. It looks quite a bit wider as soon as you see it.

Here is a pic of a GT-40 lower for a 302. It's kind of hard tell in these pics, but if you look closly, you can tell the 351W lower is conciderably wider. ;)

I would buy it in a heartbeat for $100 if it really is the GT40 lower. (Usually when the deal is that good it turns out to actually be a truck lower) I wouldn't give any more than $200 for one though since that starts putting the price too close (Once you figure in buying the upper to go with it) to that of a new Edelbrock intake which I would rather have anyway.
