What's the best m/c for 4 wheel disk brakes?

I'm going 4 wheel disk brakes and need some advice on which master cylinder will work the best. I'm not wanting to use a proportioning valve or brake assist. Thanks in advance for the input.

"Best" depends on a lot of things- the prop. valve has nothing to do with it, the brake assist does. So does which brakes you are using front & rear.

Also depends on you. If you like to use both feet and mash the pedal through the firewall to stop, or if you prefer using one little toe delicately. Or something in between. And how much you want to pay.

Try doing a search on disc brake master cylinder. This has been covered a *lot* of times on this board over the years. You'll be reading threads for hours. Then report back with some comments about your situation, I'm sure you'll get lots of responses.

Are you running vacuum or hydroboost brakes? With hydroboost brakes I run a 78 Lincolm Mark VII master cylinder on mine. I would guess that it would work fine with a vacuum booster as well but I couldn't say for sure. As Lars mentioned it's been covered quite a bit here so there are several options.

Like the others said, give us a little more input on which brakes you're using. Also, is your truck fuel injected or carbureted?

I've used a 1 1/8" bore master with manual, vacuum, and hydroboost applications on my truck. But knowing a few other factors will tell us which version to recommend.

Although Todd and I love to discuss things we usually end up agreeing on these issues. Four wheel discs require the bigger bore Master cylinders. I have 4 wheel discs and Hydroboost and, like Saddleup. run the Lincoln master cylinder.
I know Todd runs a Mopar unit and Madgyver runs a corvette unit with his hydroboost setup. So, what you use is really up to you.

I ran the Mark V 1 1/8" master on my truck for many years with 4 wheel discs and w/o a booster and it worked fine. However, if it's mounted to the firewall and he has a Mustang SEFI intake on it, the ports on the Lincoln will run straight into the intake. That's why I was holding off on a recommendation until I heard what his configuration is.

I'm running a fuel injected mustang HO motor. I plan on running 32 or 33 inch tires. I don't really want power assisted brakes. Thanks for the input. Lloyd

What brakes are you running? Since you're running the Mustang engine and don't want a booster, you won't want to try the Lincoln master. Will write more later...........
