I am looking to purchase a Transmission Jack. I have no idea who carries or makes quality ones. I called harbor freight and they've got some low quality inexpensive ones for about eighty bucks. Not really what I'm looking for.

I bought the tranny craddle that fits on your existing floor jack. You just take out the cup from you floor jack and set the tranny craddle in its place. It works like a charm. I bought it from Harbor Frieght. It wasn't that much and I've used it several times without issue.

I was looking into this very topic earlier this week, I've spent about $250.00 in the last year on tranny jack rental, I keep looking but can't find one I like as much as the rental I keep renting.
I called sears about there’s and they referred me to there MFG. for detailed specs. well the cradle that fits on the pan is only approx. 7.5"X12" same with the Harbor Freight jack cradle, my AOD pan is 12"X12"
Also I'm not crazy about the design of the cradles on either tranny jack, I'd like to find one with the cradle with the 4 arms on each corner of a square plate that adjust in & out.
I've been thinking of checking the McMaster Carr catalog and see if they have one.
Let me know if you find one, I'd like check it out.
Thanx, Francois.
Hey Tonto - I too have the AOD (as you know) and the Harbor Frieght tranny jack (adapter for floor jack) fits the AOD pad fine (although it is a little tight. But I guess it suits my needs. Now if I start to pull the tranny as much as you have been ;) then I may want something else.
I made my own transmission jack by using a sizzors jack as the design. I just made all the pieces 4 or 5 times larger. I used a 5/8 threaded rod for the screw. The top plate is about 13" square. I made bolt on attachments to support the trany/transfer case combo. It will lift a block with no trouble. It has recessed castor wheels to move on.

justino

This is the one that I have. It is by no means cheap, but is good transmission jack. It has 44" of verticle lift and is rated for 2,000 lbs. Fully adjustable every way you could want.
