Which tire setup is best? Your opinions

Hey guys, I'm sure this has been covered but I've got a 3.5" susp lift w/ a 1" body lift and i'm trying to figure out which wheel/tire setup looks best. I know I'm going w/ the Mickey Thompson Classic III's but are 35's too big? are 33's to small? 15" or 17" rim? I'm currently running 33's and it just looks funny. maybe b/c there's too much dead space between the top of the wheel and the fender.

anyone have any really good pics? anyone have any strong opinions?

and before you ask, it's mainly a street vehicle, local roads and highway speeds.

Thanks!

I think you answered your own question.. If 33s look too small then go 35s.
Two points:
1: Pretty big price jump between 33s and 35s
2: Gearing... Keep in mind that 3.50 wont turn them lugs worth a darn.

Personal preference when choosing two tire sizes, always go with the bigger choice! ;D

I have the same suspension lift with an extra inch of body lift, running 35's and I think I have a bit too much lift for the tires. I think you'll be happy with the proportional look the 35's will give you with your lift. Fender flares make a difference too because they make the wheel well bigger all around, so that will change the tire fitment & look a bit.

I'm a fan of 15" wheels because they don't get damaged as easily off road and you save some money on the tires. That said, 17" wheels are hard to argue against if you're mostly planning on street driving. Again, all personal preference.

35s fill the gap better but you also need to consider clearance for your suspension to flex. If you plan to take it off road you might want to find a shop with an rti ramp to check clearances with the 33s. It also depends on how big your fenders are cut.

35s will work, if you do much wheeling, may need some trimming, but will look better than 33s...

Bigger wheels seem to be the thing to do, but I run 37s w/15' wheels.

Definitely should consider your gearing as well

Last time I looked 15's are quite a bit cheaper. The larger the rim the less sidewall flex. Larger rim will ride better/stiffer on the road. Smaller rim giving more tire flex gives you better traction on rocks and trails. You can also look at different load rating of the tire for a stronger sidewall

I just went through this and went with 35's (not shown).
Here are the Good Year 35's previously on it with a 2in body lift.
I had the Tire Center put 33's on one side and 35's on the other and there was just too much space for my liking, did not fill the wheel well enough.
It will come personal preference in the end.

Have to disagree with the 17s get hurt more, I've seen no difference using both and watching others. 15s are great cause they still make load C rating, while the jump to 17 gets you at best load D rating, which is actually a much tougher tire. My decision togo 17 rested with my jeep using 17s. Both trucks use the same tire now so I have that going for me.

BFG AT KO2 315/70R17

These are available in load range C, about 34.4 or 34.5 inches.

My 2c, anything more than a 2.5" lift needs 35" tires at the least up to 5" lift, bigger tires required there after... Again, in my opinion.

Btw, My truck is 2.5" lift with 33" tires.

If you're looking at rims too 8" hold the bead better if aired down and 10's give less sidewall flex and feel more stable on the road.

With that much lift I think you should go 37. I personally don't like the big lift look with the visible suspension. I like the 33" with 2.5" lift, 35" with 3.5" unless hard offroad add +1 body lift and anything higher just keep adding tire.

35"x12.50"x15"
Mickey Thompson MTZ's (my favorite mud terrain tread)

On Pro-Comp 15"x10" wheels.

3.5" Duff front coils with Duff long arms
2.5" Deaver rear leaf packs

1" Daystar body lift integrated into the poly body bushings.

Generous cut for flares.
Absolutely no rubbing.

I like the stability provided by the wider wheel (10" vs 8").
And yes its a little low in the back. I used to have a 2.5" suspension lift. I will eventually get 3.5" Duff leaf packs.

I'm on my second set of KM2's. Next time I'll buy the KO2's (All Terrain). I've been running these on a 15x8" rim. They work great aired down, I usually run them at 10psi. I have 3" suspension lift, with 2" body lift.
