so im following the write up jeepster made and had a few questions.

- the aluminum (?) dish like area in the center of the cluster of mine has started to oxidize a bit, what can i do to resolve this before i put it back together?

- does everyone else speedo needle bounce? for instance when i hit a bump it might bounce a little before it settles on a steady speed, and while im holding it in my hand right now it moves fairly freely and bounces until settling on 0. anyway to fix that?

Lube the speedo cable. I painted mine to take care of the oxidation.

I lubed the cable and eventually replaced it. Never fixed the bounce and one day at about 75 mph, there was a loud bang and the speedo head gears broke. Still haven't replaced it even though someone from this board gave me a very nice cluster. Will get to it eventually. Just hate to bend and possibly crack insulation on those old wires...
