Hey guys, show me some pics of your Yakima roof rack systems on your broncos. I'm an avid kayaker and mountain biker and have been thinking of installing Yakima or Thule's roof rack systems and was wanting to see some picutres of people on here. Thanks

Luke

Here are a few pics of the Yakima setup. The biggest difference between them is that the Yakima uses a round crossbar whereas the Thule is more of an oval bar.

I've found for kayaks that I like thule better than Yakima racks. Reason being is that when you are sliding the boats onto the roof of your vehicle with the Yakima racks, the saddle mounts tend to rotate around the bar, whereas with the Thule they can't rotate.

I run a pair of saddles on the front and hull rollers on the back for each boat (total of 2) for 1 vehicle and a set of kayak stackers on the other (for the end of river pick-up, can carry 4-5 boats depending on size with the stackers.)

I don't have these on my Bronco, but I have Thule components going all the way back to 1996 that I still use to this day....One rack has been on numerous vehicles of mine (with different feet to change over...96 GMC Jimmy, 98 Blazer, 01 F-150, 04 Mazda6, 05 Mazda3, I just need to check my rack feet and one of the sets I have already may work on my 00 Taurus I bought to replace the Mazda3 I'm selling)

Here's one with a rack.

AND A SHADOW!

NO, ITS A SUNROOF!

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

...retarded thing is, they don't list the EB in their catalogs for fit etc!

They use em in the pic's of vehicles but offer no info for fit applications, or at-least not up till 06 when I stopped sell'n them!

You only need the rain gutter mounts so it's no big deal, just odd that they are not listed.

Don't know on the Thule but for the Yakima you need the 1A towers to fit the gutters and then 58" crossbars. (Might be listed as 60").

I think I would try to use the 58" bars instead so they don't stick out past the edge of the top. The first pic I have above shows the 58" Yakima bars which fit perfect without sticking out. This may not matter to some though. For me it's a matter of trying to avoid ripping them off on the trails.

If they are too long just take a hack saw to them. They are nothing more than light tubing with a plastic coating and an end plug. I used to sell Yakima when I was in college.
