Is it sacrilege to paint a 72 Sport explorer, Stroppe colors? & would it be offensive to use a burnt orange rather than poppy red for the bottom half? Your opinions please. Thanks!

I don't think so.....it's yours, you can do as you please...and you should please yourself first.

IMO...not as bad as putting in a chevy engine or cummins diesel, which doesn't bother me either but some get very sensative about it.

I think replicas are great - they pay hommage to the originals. The only time its wrong is when someone tries to pass them off as originals. I think the number of surviving 65-66 Shelby Mustangs is more than what Carrol produced!

Excellent!!!

FWIW I have seen a few out there with the 2 tone at the body line and they have looked great. I have thought about the Stroppe look a like and wondered the same thing. Glad to see some ideas and opinions.

You can't go wrong with that color scheme, and it always gets peoples attention. There may be a few people that get up tight on here, or other place's but they are nothing to concern yourself with. I like your idea to do a slight tweak on the colors, have fun and enjoy it.
Welcome aboard!

This is a big deal in the Mustang community. Some get pissed, some love it. Bottom line- Your Bronc is your Bronc, so build it the way you want. There is no way I can afford a 67 Shelby, but I will build a restomod clone someday, and hopfully a Shelby Cobra Kit also.

I gotta agree with you guys too. I think tributes and the likes are great, and most times more fun(you can use them accordingly with no heart palps), than the originals.

Before I found my first one, I was going to paint one Tucson Bronze on the lower, Wimbledon, and then was undecided about the top color, but was sure going to use the flat black. Basicly the same scheme, but different colors. Of course on some of my rougher Bajas over the years I had visions of doing original hues, but either candy, pearl or metalflake.

post pics!
