So I read a thread that said to count the the nimber of turns the shaft makes to turn the wheel one turn. I tried it and it looks to be about 2 turns. Im pretty sure I dont have 2.0 gear! What am I doing wrong???
If only one is turning then you double the end result (use half count of wheel turns). If one wheel isn't turning, the differential gears double the speed of the turning wheel.

It does not matter what your gears are for a locker for a 9 in...what matters is what your axle spline count is. Look at the lockers for sale on any vendor website.
Since that is the case I may see if my 68' has the same spline as my 72' and use the locker out of it since Iwont really be banging it uo on the rocks anymore.

I know of them for other applications. Don't know of any complaints for them. They are very much like a Lock-rite or a Detroit locker. Same mechanical ratcheting locker concept. The issue I know of for these drop in lockers in general is case wear. Not that they cause it, But if your differential has 40 years of spinning spider gears it might not be in the necessary clearance specs needed for the locker to work correctly.
just setup one of them aussie lokkas, gears to go ana where lol for my brothers 9". I thought they are a nice piece. made well and via there instructions clearances were dead on in his 35 yr old 3rd member. I think he paid just over 2 bills for it somewhere.
If you read their website, you'll see that it is in fact the same as the Aussie Locker and is a better choice than the Lock Rite.
The Lock Rite uses your original (most likely worn) side gears and isn't spline specific while the Lokka and Aussie use all new matched drivers inside the unit and requires you to specify axle spline count....which in all 66-77 Broncos with stock shafts, is 28.

Thanks a lot for the input guys, this sounds interesting, I'm sure you can not pound on it like a detroit, but should be sufficient for light off road and street.
