Modifications
- Exterior Mods
- 289 V8. Engine was overhauled at 140k miles with pistons, rings, timing chain, hardened valve seats and valves, oil pump, hoses, and belts and clutch. The cylinders were bored and the crankshaft turned (all done by my dad).. 3 speed column shift transmission and 2 speed transfer case.. 2 gas tanks.. I just installed a new battery.
- Interior Mods
- good!
- Drivetrain Mods
- The exterior is in great shape. . My dad kept the Bronco sprayed with LP 3 on the underside over the years to prevent rust. He also painted it on at least one occasion, possibly two.
- Suspension Mods
- In 1978 the back of the bronco was cut off to install the 4 wheel pop-up camper (in Denver). The driver and passenger seats, and the cab, are all original.
- Wheels and Tires
- The short wheelbase Bronco and the lightweight camper make it possible to camp in the backcountry with no worries. The camper sleeps 4 and has a stove, ice box, furnance, sink, and water tank, plus plenty of storage. It also has a storable table. . . Some work will have to be done on the back section of the pop-up due to water damage incurred since I inherited 2 years ago (my dad always kept it inside....I do not have room). I know of a shop in CO that can replace the roof and the rear of the pop top if desired. If you are a wood worker I believe this area could be fixed without a shop.
