ok, ive got the 79 nearly stripped and now its time to build my eb.
im planning on full width axles. my hp60 already has a locker, 4.88 gears, 35spline chromoly shafts, warn super premium lockouts , dynatrac diff cover , hi steer arms , and cage radius arms, 6" super flex coils.. my rear 10.25 has disc brakes, 4.88 gears, detroit locker . im thinking of putting the 60 in 2" forward with a 79 gear box tapped for ram assist. and putting the rear in as far back as it can possibly go , 4 link it with air shocks. full cage, rock sliders, new paint, beadlock wheels and whatever size tire i can stuff underneath.
any comments or suggestions welcome. thanks, mike.

My only comment is to please post pix during the build! Sounds ambitious but it should be killer when you're done.

4 link it with air shocks.

Why air shocks??? With a build like that I would think a good set of coilovers would be better in the long run.
Good luck with the build, been working on mine a while, changed plans on some things 100 times before I decided what I really wanted, or what we decided was best

less expensive. ive got less than 3 months to build a complete rockcrawler . and it has not ran in the past 5 years. and its bone stock. but i have lots of parts. i wonder if any of you guys could tell me what tire size might fit this project. 6" superflex coils in the front . full width one tons , and cut fenders.

Might be able to fit 39.5 Iroks on there depending on how much you trim the fenders. WH Warflares to the body line. Any body lift?

If your 6" coils were for the 79 Bronco application, they may be a little stiff because the EB weighs less.

i run your setup.... 78/79 60 front, sterling 10.25 rear fullwidth with stazworks beadlocks, 5.38 gears, cromo inner/outers(35 spline), 300M longfield joints, sexy lady drive flanges, GLO diff covers, BC bronco coils front with wristed arm, stock EB springs rear. i am actually in the middle of swapping to F150 2wd 2.5" springs since they are longer... they flex better and are MUCH more common. i broke a rear main couple weekends ago at GrayRock. i am rolling 39 iroks right now but i wil be ordering some 44TSL's in the next couple of weeks. i get VERY little rubbing right now but will have to either do more trimming and/or lift to clear 44's, but i think it'll be worth it

my front is 2" forward with a 79 steering box tapped for my hydro assist (about to do full hydro) and my rear is pulled back about 11" and i inboarded my springs so i could get about 5" of lift.

here are some webshots. they are not up to date i need to get some new ones but i tend to have to go in to work every now and then, lol

heres a couple of lame poser shots

got the bronco home last night. it hasnt run in about 5-6 years. i guess the first project will be trying to get it fired up. ill change the oil , drain the tank, pour in some fresh gas, check the radiator and fuel lines , drop one of my optima batteries in and see what happens. if it runs ill give it a full tune up for temporary use until i can locate a newer model 5.0 engine. i guess i will need to swap in a different radiator for that due to the inlet and outlet hose locations. after that , ill pull the interior so i can rip all the carpet out and inspect the floor. if it looks good ill rhino line it and put my corbeau seats in . is the 79 steering column a direct bolt in ? and why do people want to swap the column ? is it better or what ? thanks.

Some of the 79's have tilt columns, also BC sells a crossover tube so you dont have to change the radiator when using the 5.0.

I swapped to the 79 col as mine was shot and I did not want to spend coin on a new EB col. Also, with a 79 man col, you get rid of anything left from a shifter on the col. Not direct bolt in, needed to swap dash brackets, otherwise fits good.

First pic, 79 col, 2nd 70 col, 3rd 70 bracket on 79 col.........

today, i pulled the interior to inspect the floor pans. im gonna have to do a little work on them. also bought a complete 1990 5.0 engine with serpentine pulleys. ill need to find out if my c4 torque convertor will work on this late model engine and if the mustang stock headers will work and how the distributor and alternator will wire up and if the serpentine set up will fit in between the radiator.what about the flywheel ? any advice ? thanks.
