So i took the body of the 68, up last friday to Alternative Blasters in Marrysville, and picked it up a week later, today jan 30, 09... They did a real nice job, and i was left with more steel that i thought! Hee Hee....

Here are some pics of it leaving, and what i have now...

I picked up some epoxy primer for the body and some Por 15 for the underneath...

Also, here is a link to a bunch of photos thus far... All pics, are not there but most..

Right now i have installed lift, motor, trans, Atlas II, and have since been pulled back out. I didn't like the way the paint turned out on the frame. Also, the lift was mocked up with stock axles, and i will be installing Dana 60 front and Sterling 10.25 rear.

So, for this weekend, i hope to get the body primed and also get the frame stripped, finish welding my frame notch for the atlas, and get it painted too.....

Long weekend ahead of me! ;D

Update Feb 15

So all the body is primered, and set aside for now.. Took all the suspension off today. Shocks, springs, front, rear, axles, everything... Going to strip the frame of the paint that is on it, finish welding my notch in the frame for the Atlas II t case, then prep the frame as well as full width axles for por 15. Hopefully i can get them preped this week and paint them next week end.

Update feb 23, 09

Since i last posted, here is what i have done....

- Removed all lift/suspension parts, and disassembled parts to prep for install on fw d60 front and fw sterling 10.25 rear
- Removed axles
- Finished welding all parts to frame. ( i had some welding to do to the 4 link brackets on the underside of the frame)
- Finished the frame notch for the Atlas II
- Found out i will have to use cage radius arm brackets to install the radius arms to the d60 front.
-Met some more addicts of broncos that are local to mill creek, about 6 people.

Next things to complete

- strip all paint off frame and axles, and prep for por 15
- install axle truss onto new rear axle.
- prep underneath of tub for por 15

After the axles, frame and tub are repainted with the por 15, then its back to putting everything back together, finally!

Going to order some parts this coming week.

- Psc full hydro steering
- Pipe bender / coping tool (I think i will build my own cage)
- Speed sensor for the Atlas
- Need to figure out what shifter (for E4od)

So, thats it for now. Hopefully i can get that prep and painting done over this coming weekend. Then next week i can start putting it all together!!!! Exciting for me....

Oh, and here are some pictures. I rigged up some come alongs into the trusses in my shop to lift the body, and used them to help flip the frame to work on the bottom of it. Also a couple pictures of the frame notch i did. I notched the frame for the Atlas II, boxed it in, and also did a gusset on the outside and top of the frame to strengthin it... I think it is stronger than before. (I hope, I am new to welding)

Progress......

New POR 15 on the frame all done. WOW! I really like that stuff! I have never used it before. I am so glad i stripped it down, from the rattle can paint job, and put that on it.

Took the stock 9" over to Marks shop, and he cut the axle truss, for the rear 4 link off of it. Man, i want a plasma cutter.... Those are slick! Took a little tinkering, but was able to get it mounted to the fw sterling rear. I will still need to make another bracket to bolt the truss to the housing, it is cast so no welding.

So thus far, new rear end is installed, front ready to go in. I hope to be able to do that tomorro.

Sorry, pics are taken with my phone...

Had a chance to put in a couple hrs out in the shop tonight. Was able to get the cage brackets mounted to the Dana 60 front end. Also radius arms reinstalled. I needed a tap to mount the coil springs to the cage brackets, i didn't have the right size, so i called it a night. That thing is huge!

Are you going to disk the rear? Did you have to make any changes to the 4-link setup to make it fit the Sterling? Looks great man

Sorry, i havent been on here in a bit....

Yes, i had to cut the rear axle truss to fit over the center housing or the diff of the sterling 10.25.... I will have to make a bracket that bolts to the housing and the axle truss, because the housing is cast. Atleast that is what i am told. It will bolt to the housing and truss so i can bolt into the cover it self, and still be able to remove it.

Hope that makes sense.....;D

Yea that is exactly what I did on my 10.25 for my Ballistic truss. I will post some pics of it soon

Please post your pics here.... I am not going to make the bracket until i am sure about my pinion angle. I need body and the other weight on it before i fully weld the brackets, front and rear axles, and make the bracket for the rear... I would like to see what you did...

Update.....

Today was raining like a bastard, so i told the guys, lets roll up early... Went and had a beer for lunch, cause there is a sandwich in every beer, and then came to the shop.. Finished drilling a couple mounts i made for the trans. Got the crossmember for trans and t case installed. Now i have a rolling chassy! No hoists needed! So we moved it out of the working side of the shop and pulled the body back in. Going to POR the underside of the body, them get it set on the frame.... Huge step mentally!!!!!! Gets me excited!

Is that cage done? It's gonna collapse on ya unless it's a super light roll. Need to triangulate the b pillar to the c.

Looks good....what's your driveshaft length gonna be with that e4od? I debated going w/ an e4od over a c6 in my build, but due to contol complexity, cost, and length I went with a C6.

Roll cage is just one that was in the bronco when i bought it. I am putting a new family style one in it. I have just been using that cage to hoist the body on and off the frame, also for suspending it in the air for painting.

The rear drive line will be around 28" long at ride height, the front is around 34" long.

Remember i have moved each axle 4".
