As some of you that know me, I finally bought an Early Bronco(76) a few months back. I use to race Tough Trucks for almost 12 years with a 79 Fullize Bronco. The #35 was the first number I was issued in a points system for Extreme Super Truck series. I did pretty well and had alot of fun with this Bronco. I bought it on a Tuesday for $700 with a 4 inch lift and 33s on it. Drove it home, loaded it on a trailer and went to my First tough race with it the next night without even looking at a thing on it. Well I did what most new drivers do! "Drive it like you Stole it" And it worked really well for me. I took first place and brought home $925.00 for the night. Yeah, thats right. They paid really well at the Montgomery County Fair. So the next couple of days I could hardly walk or move, I was so sore. I took my money and bought a neckbrace and some new shocks! A friend gave me a 4 point harness for it. And then it was on! Everytime I put the Helmet on it pushed this button on top of my head. And I was a totally different person. Well thats what people told me anyhow. LOL. I loved to win and I loved to wreck! LOL, I was never a sore loser like some of them guys out there. I would always smile and tell them "I'll beat you next time!" Well as times are getting hard and there are hardly any races out there, I'm retireing the "Lime Green #35". Good times in this old truck! Not only did I race Tough Trucks, it was my Trail rig, my Mud Basher and a learning tool for me with FORDS! Yeah I can say I am more of a chevy guy. But always had more fun in the Fords that I have owned.
So here it goes.... I bought this 76 Bronco from a kid here in Missouri who actually bought it online from a guy in New Jersey. He flew there and drove it back home. Hey right there says its a very reliable Bronco. It had 3 1/2" Duff lift on it with 33s. When he got home with it, he bought a 5.5 wild horse lift and some 35s. New driveshafts, Had the tranny rebuilt, Superior axles in rear, put a new bumper on front, made a rear bumper, and bought some extrs he never put on it.
Well he decided he was going to sell it as for he needed the money and only took it wheelin once since all this was done. I found it and he was asking $4000 for it at first. as the weeks went by, I talked to my good friend David(Spareparts) and he said I just needed to go look at it and see how it runs and how bad the body is, etc etc. So I did, 2 weeks later I got him down to $2700 on it! He even gave me the old 3.5 duff lift, a Brand new Fiberglass tailgate and Liftgate. And some extras as well. I still didnt know if it was a good deal, considering I was use to buying 78 and 79s for less then $400. So now that ive had it, Ive decided I got a hell of a deal! I sold the rear axle for $500, the 3.5 lift for $200 and now down to $2000 in it. I took my 36 Iroks with H1 wheels and threw on it and plan on selling the 35s that was on it. I wheeled it hard on New Years with open diffs, and we come to find out that "this things runs pretty damn good" other then a lifter ticking.
As for the #35... Well its been with with me for over 11 years, might as well keep the number. And that number is stuck in my head.
So now its coming apart for a dana 60 and a 14 bolt. and some other goods.
Ill start my first few pics now and Ill try to keep posting as we are working on it.

I started with my 14 bolt. Decided i was going to shave it, so i got out the sawzaw and cut off the bottom of the housing. I know with cutting off as much as I did, I would have to shave the ring gear as well. If I had the 9.5 ring gear I wouldnt have to cut anything off unless I cut more off the housing. So we put it on the lathe and used a interupting tool and started cutting. This was taking way to long, so we pulled out the 6 inch electric grinder and got my 1/4" off the gear real quick. I bought a cover from Ruff Stuff Specialties. And cut off the bottom of it as well. Ill be running a detroit locker and 5.38 gears. Here are some pics of what is done.

He's putting bad thoughts in my head. ;D

Well, I'm just tired of breaking and going to follow his lead. 60 and a 14 bolt for me too, might as well be since most of the work will be done in my shop. It will be easy to make it right the second time, when we do mine. LOL:D

Hey I had the stuff laying around. Well the 60 was under my Jeep, till you and Nathan got bored one day and took the tractor and lifted the Jeep up and pulled it. And as for the making it right the 2nd time... I think we are on the right track the first time around.

Well its been a couple of weeks or so since I posted on the is thead. I was hard at it the last 3 days. Friday I had the day off so went out to Davids and worked on taking out the front Dana 44. Had it all unbolted and ran into trouble pulling it off the radius mounts on the frame. I thought I was done for the day and would have to wait for help, but I thought of something.... LOL I ran my winch cable out the back door and attacted it to Davids fullsize and a little tug and out came the Dana 44. Yeah I know GENIUS!! Heres the definition I found on a search.... A genius is an individual who successfully applies a previously unknown technique in the production of a work of art.

I got the 14 bolt rearend (15 bolt now) attached the leave springs, perches welded. As you mihgt be able to see, We moved the axle back 1 inch by using that big perch I bought from Barnes4wd.com I had a guy at work make the spring plates. The 9 Inch is 1 inch shorter then the 14 bolt, so moving it back 1 inch prevented me from having the make a new drive shaft.
The dana 60 is in the process. Ive got the cage arms mounted and Nathan welded the brackets from me today. Im going to work on a 1 inch mount for the the spring cups. My rear was always sitting alittle higher. Im hoping this will help it out.

And as you can see David (SpareParts) is working on his brackets for his dana 60 as well. And Ive been using his Bronco as a shelf for now. Its just the right height. Once we are done with mine on the lift, his will be next. His should go alot quicker then mine, since he already has the cage arms and we will have all the ideas figured out with mine.

One of the first problems I had with the dana 60 is the Ballistic Fab cover I got after 25 days of waiting ,is that the cover is not centered right. They welded it wrong and it hits the ring bolts where the circle is marked. kind of sucks! Well I have the Dana 60 under it know. I had 2 1" risers cut out of 4" round stock and tapped them to be able to bolt down the springs( Nathans still has to finish welding them in. My rear always sit up about 2 inches higher anyhow. Im hoping this will take care of it. It looks good as of now.
We used Davids version of a PLUM BOB. Some pink string(Why he has pink string in his shop, I dont know) and a bolt. Works great!
I finished up the breaklines and bled the breaks.
The next step is the steering. I took my bars to a friend at work and hes going to tap the ends out for me so my 3/4 inche heims will fit. then next to the gears and ARB.

The pink string was bought by my wife, LOL. I asked her to pick up some string when we was laying out the corners for the house, she bought pink.%)

By the way, we need 1350 slip yokes. I did some checking and we don't have 1410 yokes, they measure up to be the 1350's. I'll do some checking on line to find out the cost.

Here's a couple of pics I have from his build, modifying the shorty headers, cutting and grinding the run flats to make them just beadlocks.
