For those that have Pm'd. Yes this is an alternate unevent in case the regularly scheduled event does not take place. The campground area is sweet with access to the dunes about 2 miles. The dunes are much larger than sand lake. For those not into the dune aspect of it the town is a traditional beach town with everything you'd want! We'd like to get some help from a few people that are familiar with the area that might want to put on a trail run in the mountains. If you would like to help hit me with a pm.

Consider it a vacation with lots of broncos around.

I just decided to change the starter in my '74 (new to me). now the engine is at the machine shop, the frame is sitting next to the tub and boxes of new parts seam to magically show up about once a week. Hopefully i can get her put back in time to get there. I agree about this being a better location than SL.

Hope to see you there.

I haven't been keeping up to speed on things. What's going on with the other event?

We're not exactly sure and we didn't want to wait until the last minute to find out. SO.. we are offering this as a new concept in bronco vacationing should your regularly scheduled event not happen this year.;)

Seems like I am missing something here. So this is a break off event, or it is likely that SOB won't happen this year?

Sand lake campground is closed june 25th to august 27th for campground repaving, seems like a poor time to plan a repaving project if you ask me, must not want our money this year

That is crazy. Sand Lake is packed that time of year.

With the rules getting tighter every year I don't think we'll be driving on the sand there much longer.

Well now is the chance to Bronco up in different sand. I believe this is going to be a good time. Thanks for the interest mate, we hope to see you there :)

That was part of the reason for going south to florence. If I'm going on vacation for a week I want a guaranteed place to stay. Now with the campground at sand lake shut down for the summer and no reservations being taken, I'm moving on.
We went to Florence on sunday and recon'd the area. The above website links above speak volumes to what is down there.

Count me in..!

I will make the short drive from Coos Bay to join you. SOB was not the same last year. Sandlake regulations are getting very tight and the Rangers act like they do not want us there.

Count me in..

I didn't make the trip last year. Like you said the rules are getting stupid. But I think that's the plan.

I looked at the reservation board and it appears the campsites are starting to get booked. Don't delay. E loop, D loop and G loop are what we are aiming for.

If you are planning on trailering your Bronco, is there an area nearby to leave a trailer & tow rig? Don't want to clog up the campground with extra rigs.

The close staging area to Honeyman Campground is South Jetty and Goose Pasture day use areas which are both north of Honeyman. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you

If you have a street vehicle and want to ditch the tow vehicle, we may be able to find a lot that we can use to park the rigs. I am going to look into doing the same thing.

Who wants to go on a "scout" run before August?? I was in the club formally known as Cascade Classic Bronco's that held "Back to the Beach" about 8 years ago. It was supposed to be an annual event and we did have several sponsors including Wild Horses, James Duff ect. I believe the count was 42 bronco's which was an awesome turn out for such a short notice event. Anyway, a few of us did a "scout" trip before the event and had a blast. Contact me if someone wants to join in.
Later..........CRAB
