Ok,
I got parts in for my 72 Bronco.

Wife wanted a new headliner, which I got along with the molding piece.

I also got a Wiper Motor Cover.

Looking at the cover, I have NO IDEA how it's supposed to mount or look.

Anyone got pics or drawings that would help me out?

There are 2 brackets that mount directly to the upper windshield, sort of like L brackets. The cover goes over everything and screws thru the cover to and thru the threaded holes in the brackets, then screw in the lower lip of the cover to the windshield. Then hook up your sun-visors and rods thru the center mount on the cover and to the w/s with the 2 screws on the ends of the rods. Good Luck...Mo

Yes, there are two brackets just like mofoco1 says, that attach to top part of windshield frame. There are two screws on each end of the cover that attach to these brackets, and also two or three screws that attach the bottom of the cover to the windshield frame. Here are a few photos I took a short time back when I was removing stuff to install a new soft top. Two of the photos are from driver side taken from above. The top is obviously off, and you can see the wiper mechanism inside the cover and the screws holding the cover on. Third photo is from passenger side and you can see the two screws that likewise hold the cover to the bracket on that side.

Also included a couple of old photos from years ago when I started tearing things down. First one shows old cover from passenger side, obvious mounting screw holes. Second old photo shows the hard top coming off. The black bracket closest in the foreground is one of the brackets mofoco1 refers to. If you look close you can see in that bracket the holes for the screws that hold the cover. There is another bracket like this one on the driver side.

Hope this helps. If you are still having trouble figuring out those brackets, shoot me a PM and I can pull them out and take a picture of them for you. Good luck.

Bob

Hey Thanks Guys,

It helps to know what it's supposed to look like.

I love this place as it illustrates something I learned a long time ago.

I don't have to know everything, I just have to be willing to ask about what I don't know, and find the right place or person to ask.

Again,

Thanks.

It's appreciated.

I lucked out, and thanks to your help, I lucked out good.

Since you told me what to look for, I actually realized what I was holding when I opened the glove box and found two pieces of black steel.

Sonuvagun, they fit perfectly to be the mounting brackets for the wiper motor cover.:D

YEAH!

Can anyone help me with some photos of the windshield frame that show where the brackets should be mounted? I have a lot of holes in my windshield frame, but they don't seem to match up to the wiper cover brackets. Also, how are the brackets supposed to attach to the frame? Sheet metal screws or bolts?

Driver side:

Passenger side:

These are the aftermarket wiper brackets I bought, so hopefully they have the proper holes:

Your new brackets
The one with the one larger hole goes under the bolt that attaches the motor bracket
The othe bracket goes on drivers side on the two holes in your pic

Thanks Bronc50! Turns out I did indeed have the correct holes. I have an extra hole on both sides b/w the bracket and the 2 mounting points for the visors. Those holes were what was throwing me off. Not sure what, if anything, those are for.

For the passenger side, are there supposed to be a screw run through the top mounting hole to secure the wiper cover bracket to the wiper motor bracket? Looks like that is the case, but then the end of the screw would be visible/exposed from the front of the vehicle. Probably splitting hairs here, but I'd like to be correct.

Aside from the visors, extra holes can sometimes be for the factory optional cardboard headliner.
I can't remember off-hand how many there would have been, but i would think a few more than what you've got. Maybe some were covered when it was painted? They're pretty small, so might not have made the grade when paint prep was going on?

Oh, and then there's them pesky PO's to contend with too. You can't really assume you're going to find a logical explanation for every hole in a Bronco. Some are there "just because" someone intended to mount their favorite off-road widget there.
