Hey everyone, this is the first large project we are doing in the new shop. We have been working on it for a few months now so I thought I would put up a thread so you all can see what we are up to.

We started with a pretty nice 77 Bronco with a 302, 3 spd, dana 20, D30, 9 inch and some big balloon tires.

New build specs:

Kieth Craft 427 ci, 600hp
Mass Flo Fuel Injection
Built AODE
Baumann Trans Controller
Atlas 4 spd
Spyder 9's front and rear w/ARB's
17x9 Hutchinson Beadlocks
35x12.50R17 BFG KM2's
Full Roll Cage
Tons of other hand built custom items.

Now some pics!

Nice. I was thinking of modifying my old dash but I keep reading that if you weld it, it'll never be straight again, yet you welded in a patch where the radio was. Do you smooth that out with a plastic filler/metal to metal or something?

It took a lot of painstaking work to modify the dash. It is almost impossible not to warp it. But we spent some time with the stud gun and body hammers and only a light coat of body filler for the minor imperfections. The final product is simply beautiful. More pics to come!

Subscribed:) Was great seeing this work in progress at our club meeting a few months ago. Looks like it's coming along nicely!

I was there last week. It's come a long way since the first time I saw it.

Wow! I just love anything custom. I always wondered why they hardly changed a thing in all the years they produced these trucks. But then I am thankful at times that they did not ... so we could come up with all these upgrade ideas. Thats a large part of what makes me such a big fan of these trucks!

Axles mocked up before cutting the tubes

These are the wheels we are using, DOT approved beadlocks. Man it's a lot of work mounting these things!

This is the crossmember/skid plate that I fabricated out of AR-400 1/4" plate. It has a trans mount as well as a rear Atlas mount. Both use trans mounts for a 98 Explorer 5.0. It is attached to the frame with four 1/2" grade 8 bolts with nuts welded into the frame, and four 1/2" x 5 inch grade 8 bolts that go through the frame. I also welded 1/2" ID DOM tubing into the frame so the bolts don't pinch the frame as they are tightened down.

The giant 8 quart road race oil pan required some creative exhaust routing. I started with a Bronco Hut mandrel bent 2.5" to 3" exhaust system and modified it to fit nice and tight.
