My Full Width Axle Swap

So the wife and kids left this morning to go to her moms, so I started my full width swap. I don't wheel a lot but I hope to get to the point where I have a capable rig eventually. I have a 67 with the stock Dana 30 and a small bearing 9 and suspension that was shot. I was not going to dump any money into those axles so why not go full width. All of the suspension components came from Wild Horses.

I ended up getting a set of axles out of a 79 big Bronco that were "rebuilt" so after I got done going through them and spending more that I wanted, I now have a good dependable set of axles. I plan to upgrade the axle shafts and install lockers eventually but its not in the cards right now. I ended up using the James Duff extended coil buckets and am very pleased. I now need to finish the steering and the track bar. I also installed the F250 shock mounts while I was at it, I cut the stock mounts and extended them up.

Once the axles are done in will be building a set of Lars Bars and then measure for front shocks. I pan on installing the rear axle tomorrow if the weather holds up.

Here are a few pictures. The axles needs to shift to the passenger side about a 1/2" to center it but looks pretty good.

Here are a bunch of pictures.

Here are the last few pictures. Not sure why they are turned sideways, posting them from my pad so who knows.

Finished the back axle today. Set the pinion angle and mounted the shocks also. Its not road worthy yet but should be in a week or so. Very pleased with the new lift should be a lot smoother that the old Ranco lift.

Great job on the swap! It looks like everything's coming together nicely. I had a Rancho lift on my ride that was installed by the PO, it was very stiff, and didn't flex for anything. I'm running our coils now, and a set of RS9000 shocks. Very pleased with the ride . Have a great New Year!
