Where is a good place to get either the ignition or the two door locks re-keyed to match. Is this something you take to a regular locksmith, or do I need a automotive lock specialist of sorts?

You can get it to work yourself. Take the door lock out, remove the little cap and the springs and pegs will fall out. Put the desired key in and insert the pegs in diff order until it turns, or file them down.

I bought a new ignition lock had the doors and the rear hatch rekeyed to it. you will have to find a lock guy that does auto locks. cost me $4 per door lock (pin tumblers) and $8 for the rear hatch lock (waffer tumblers).

Almost any automotive locksmith can handle. Getting an older Ford sigle sided lock(s) rekeyed by a "regular" locksmith might be hit or miss as the pin kits havent been in as much demand since the last pass vehicle stopped using them in 1977.

I would NEVER file down old used tumblers. And if you see a locksmith doing it, take your parts and run. The upper pins and lower pins are "matched" so the locks work smoothly. Dont mix and match upper and lower pins.

The legs on the pin covers will usually break, the cases are peened over them to hold them in place. This is for the ign and doors alike. It is like painting mice turds getting them out. You need to remove the old pieces in order for the new pin covers to fit properly.

FYI ALL - there are keys designed to "pass" both the ignition, doors and glove box. Properly pinned, one key will fit the entire truck. The only problem is unless you plan it properly when you drop off your truck for service, they can get into your glove box too.

Yes you can make about anything serve as a lock in one BUT if you dont know what youre doing you risk ruining a lock or compromising your truck's security. Not that a Bronco is a highly secure vehicle anyway, but we like to keep the honest - honest.

how about converting door lock to the f150 tumblers for the dual sided security. Anyone here try this?

Would require hogging out the holes to fit. Older double sided Fords (f150) are only "convenience" keys. i.e. The lock is only "pinned" on one side. Newer ones are about the same except they use wafer's and they are tied to the igniton. Either way, not really that much more "security". Then you'd have the problem of matching the doors to the ignition if that's what you like.

What are your concerns? Is there something you are concerned someone may do to yours?

The liftgate should match the glovebox.

Did not know that it should be the same blank, but roof came from Bronco977 so they should not be keyed alike.

Maybe I could get one re-keyed to match the other....

Thanks for the info,
