thanks okie4570 .... I know its a 71 model !
sykanr0ng ... I am ok w. a car that's got a aug.-dec. built date being the next years model ... but what gets me is when you got like this 05/10 Eos and when you pull its vin ( WVWAA7AH1BV000383 ) it shows as a 2011 model !
The used blue book value between a 11 and 2012 model year is +3K !
clarrance ... compare to yours this one is not show-worthy !! how rare is a raven black sport w. all the chrome ( no roof rail tho ) bling ?
the highest 09/70 vin I know of is K1506x This one, at 1475 into production of 10/70 puts it around Oct 3rd. (@ approx 665 vins a day).
I was told that for the first few months in the 71 model year the assembly line had a problem w. getting all the dana 44s they needed. So as they ran out of 44s they would just move the unfinished Eb of to the side to be completed at a later time. To get ahead of the schedule they would move orders w. dana 30s and FLKs up in the production date !
This all would make sense and would explain it nicely ... but this black horse sports a dana 44 !
Did by chance fords production month end w. the last working day in the last week of the month and not w. the first calendar day of the month ??
I copied this from wikipedia, so take it for what it's worth:
In the United States, for regulation purposes, government authorities allow cars of a given model year to be sold starting on January 2 of the previous calendar year. For example, this means that a 2017 model year vehicle can legally go on sale on January 2, 2016.[2] This has resulted in a few cars in the following model year being introduced in advertisements during the NFL's Super Bowl.

Mine was according to the broncohohio decoder built in August, which that year was the second month of production. (oops again :-[ )
It has a Dana 30 currently.
Are you the original owner?
It was the usual practice for them to replace a failed D30 with a D44
