I have a 77 that I am doing a frame off resto-mod and have to replace the rear lower quarters. I am eliminating the reserve tank and installing a new 23 gallon tank with pump for an efi system. The new quarter panel does not have the filler cutout and I want to use the 76 and prior filler with exterior cap so that I don't have an issue mounting Warflares. How do I go about mounting the 76 and prior filler neck/cap assy? Is there a kit available from one of the suppliers? Thanks!! Gary

Its pretty much a hole for the filler to fit through with 3 small slotted screw holes to fasten the filler assembly to the fender. if you need pictures and measurments that can be done tomarrow. But with new sheet metal ,flares there a bit of wiggle room to fit as you desire..

Thank you. Pictures and measurements would be greatly appreciated. Wild Horses has a complete filler neck I just saw. I guess I need to get all the pieces and dry fit. Thanks again.

You can modify the filler neck and frankly move the location back where you want it so it doesn't interfere with the Warflares. I have mine pushed back a few inches.

Never done it, but there may be some internal body work to do as well. The inner fender (the part that covers the filler neck) is a different shape on the '77's and though I don't remember if it will block your progress or not, may be a factor.

Let me know if you want dimensions of the stock location for this. If you want to pay for shipping, I could also make you a template to trace onto your quarter panel.

I believe this is the inside of a '77 bed. You can confirm on yours.
Someone can post a pic of a different year because I didn't find one handy, but the difference in how the cover works it's way up the wheel tub is what I was talking about.
It might in fact be easier to convert a '77 to a '76 than it would be to go the other way and add a door to a pre-'77 tub.

Yeah the inside has to be modified. This had to be boxed out (hard to see but you can see the contour left with the interior panel in.
