The J bolt on the passenger side of the M1A1 fuel tank interferes with the 2 in 1 exhaust setup from Bronco Hut. Anybody have photos of how you solved this one?

That tailpipe seems to curve under the frame. You sure its installed right? Did it work with the stock tank? You may need modified tailpipes.

without seeing full picture hard to tell whats what.

My m1a1 is tight against my custom exhaust. By tight I mean 1/2-1 inch every which way I moved it. I wrapped the pipe in that area and place reflective high temp tape on the tank, looks like the stuff on lunar lander. I used an IR thermostat noting no temp issue on the tank and I could hold the pipe which is wrapped and it only seemed really warm, that after running an hour around phx.

I have included some more photos to show what I am dealing with. A couple photos show the driver side with how the j-bolt is supposed to work and the passenger side is where the exhaust routing interferes with the design of the M1A1 hanger system. I am sure others hit this and may have photos of what they came up with to work around.

If you install passenger side first, so you can get the straps flange above the exhaust tube, maybe theres enough room for the bolt? Or you can cut the bolt shorter? Just a guess, but it still looks like it won't fit

I just noticed something. Your body isn't on yet? That tailpipe is way too high, it'll interfere with the rear fender.

You may have to do a little fabrication. It might fit if you extend the tab on the passenger side closer to the frame to clear the exhaust...just something you'll have to verify. Either that or switch to the Krawlers Edge tank that mounts front and back

I have the same tank and have the same exhaust sitting on the floor ready to install. I was thinking there might be some conflict with that J bolt. Do you have a body lift?

My exhuast was hitting with my M1A1 also. I cut the exhaust back to where it would fit well, then bolted up a James Duff 45° tail pipe ends. Worked good for me.. If you got a tube bender you can cut about 3 inches off the part that's parallel with your tank, then bend the exit back back a few more degrees and weld it back on. Your hanger will have to be moved

I just noticed also, your tank sits alot lower then mine. I've got a 1" body lift...

I installed passenger side bolt first then jacked up tank into place, not pretty but worked, however I didn't have Tiffany level bling exhaust pipes to worry about:) I also had to cut the hanger bolt so only about 2 threads stick out past the end when installed. I also used two bolts to lock against each other. I have a 2 inch BL, so mine sits higher than yours. You may need to pull that section of pipe off and maletize it to give a relief for the bolt.

Thanks for all the replies! Here is what I ended up doing to make it work.

1.) Drilled a 1/2" hole in the underside of the frame near the inner edge closest to the tank.
2.) Using a Dremel, cut a square window in the side of the frame to access the top of the hanger bolt.
3.) Cut the hook off the j-bolt
4.) Using the window I cut in the frame, I threaded a washer and self locking nut onto the hanger bolt.
5.) I bent the hanger tab on the skid plate up to 90 degrees and cut down the ear to make it shorter.
6.) Drilled a 1/2" hole in the shorter skid plate ear.
7.) Bolted everything up. Worked like a charm.

Hope this helps someone else. By the way this is the M1A1 tank with skid plate, Bronco hut 2-1 exhaust setup and a 1" body lift.
