I have an OEM Bronco that I am thinking about getting it running and making it my weekend warrior. But The back part of the frame is rusted thru. I have a good title and glove box door. I have an extra frame that I could take and put everything on and it be perfect. But the frame is junk.

SO what should I do?

1.Fix the frame? But the whole frame is in bad shape.

2. Put a good frame under the Bronco and cut the old vin plate off the original frame and keep it with the Bronco, take and cut the one off the good frame and weld the other one on or don't worry about?

3. Tell me what to do.

No question....I would swap the frames. Does N.C. inspect for frame vins? If not I would leave the frame vin as is its not hurting anything by being there.
if they do Does the replacement frame have a clear title with matching vin? If so you can have the glovebox tag reprinted at Marti Auto and use it as is.

No NC doesn't inspect the frames... In fact if the truck is over 25 years old, which it is, there is no inspection required anymore in NC, not even safety inspections. I would indeed swap the frame out, I wouldn't patch it.

Buy a stripped frame/glove box door/title package from someone parting out an otherwise good truck.

Not true. If you are bringing an out-of-state antique (35 yrs or older, which all EB's are now) into NC, the DOT has to look at it, check VIN's and take pictures of it before you can get the title transferred. At least that is how it is here in Meck. county. It is a huge hassle.

That said, I've never had them check the frame VIN, as most are usually illegible by now and are hard to get to.

Otherwise, on an in-state-title transfer, you are correct.

Mill Knob, 1 more vote for the frame swap. How is the rest of the Bronco? Is it worth the effort?

Bart-The body is ok. It will need alot of attention but it has motor and with alittle work I can have a Bronco that I can putts around in. (I am having Bronco with draws since I sold my 73 a while back.)
Plus it is a U14. I have a good title and glove box door. But not a frame.
So with out one good vin# on a frame them two things are worth less?
The frame that is good that I was thinking of swaping everything over to I don't have a title for. So what now?
I really don't have the money to turn around and buy a tilte and good frame from somebody.

Just use the spare frame you have under the body in question. IF you can read the VIN number on that frame, you can do a search on it, unless you know exactly where it came from and know it hasn't been stolen. That would be the only thing you'd need to be concerned with. I've had to look at a few Broncos that I've owned. It is amazing how many are not on their original chassis for some reason or another.
