Just want to make sure this is the original engine for my bronco that was built October of 1972. Attached is a picture of the numbers I found passenger side near the starter. Would like both numbers decoded please

D20E-6015-AB

Checked a couple sites. I came up with 1972, September, 23rd day?

D2 stands for '72 (C2 would be '62)

O means originally cast for Fairlane/Torino line, but like Viper says could have been used in anything.

Especially when you see this -

T = Truck (1958-65), Light/Medium Truck (1966-82), Bronco (1966-82, Except 1970-73), Light Truck & Bronco I (1983-later)

Except Bronco in '70-'73 There you go!

E stands for "engine"

6015 is just an engine designation

AB stands for revisions over the years

The engine date stamp will be on a pedestal below the distributor just outside the valve cover on the right side as you look at it from the front. will be 4 place alpha numeric code.
