Exhaust Port/ Manifold Question

I have painted my engine block and have painted the machined area where the exhaust manifold mounts. My question is do I need to remove the paint from this area or can I leave it. I am leaning to remove it to ensure a good seal.

What do you think?

Leave it. It will simply melt into the gasket a little bit. May actually help seal it a little.
