Thanks, I didn't recall it as being called beads, Heard of it as pellets or BBs.

beads sounds more like it was meant for tire balancing, pellets is correct.

Shaving tires works graet but you will be sick at how much rubber they carve off a heavy lug tire. A tall heavy lug tire can be out of round enough to have very little tread left. Its also very expensive and performed on each corner so you can't rotate.

Our guy charges $25/tire which is not too high. why would you not be able to rotate? all it does is make the tire round.

Works very well too... If a tire is out of round, all the weaight and beeds you want to put on it will not fix it.. If its so bad that it takes a large portion of the tread off, you dont want that tire to begin with. Also, even if you were to shave 1/4" off a new tire to make it round, it would last longer than the tire that was not cut.. An out of round tire will spend most of its time "bouncing" down the road. This will cause irregular wear and excessive heat.. Shouldnt need it on anything smaller than 33"..

when my AT tires were shaved what was on the garage floor afterward was a very small pile of rubber shavings none each more than about 1/32" thick. a severe out of round tire will show up right away on a spin balance machine.
