Factory or Aftermarket Seats?!

Hey Guys,

So I'm beginning the interior part of my build, good times! Do you guys prefer the factory look or aftermarket?

I'm either going to restore (new covers, pads, hinges, etc.) my factory interior on my '69, or I'm going to go with Corbeau everything. I am leaning towards the Sports Seats or GTS II shown below plus the bench seat they offer if I go with Corbeau.

Thoughts?!

Like the look of the sport seats myself. Take into account access to rear in your decision. Highback aftermarkets don't fold up like a stock seat.

I know, I'v been thinking about that.. it's a tough call. It's basically the same price both directions, but with the Corbeau's it would literally be brand new seats!

It's losing the ability to flip the seat thats killing me..

I'm having the same issue, my 74 should be painted in another month or so, hopefully. %) I am changing colors from blue to limestone green, and the interior is blue, not in bad shape, but I will either need to recover it, probably parchment or go with new seats. Not doing a restoration, lifted, cut fenders etc, but I do want an original look and I'm torn on which way to go. But, I guess that's half the fun. :)

If you really want to flip the seat you may be able to fabricate a slider for the passengers side and slide back after you lift and then flip. Or you may also lift and recline the new seat flat and flip up if you didnt have top issues. It may take some fabrication and the purchase of just the right seat but it may be doable. seats with removable headrests would make this much easier to do.

: decided to stick with the original seats, but decided to buy all new ones thru Bronco Connection instead of rebuilding mine.

Appreciate the feedback guys!

Anybody who want to sit in the back can climb ;D Its not that bad. Most important is driver comfort and safety. Hands down aftermarket!

So has of this morning Bronco Connection totally dropped the ball on me. I'v waited 5 weeks (you read that right) for some factory seats to come in and has of today they apparently got damaged during shipping and I am being issued a credit. I can not begin to explain how poorly things were handled by them on this whole thing, but that's neither here or there now.

So, back to square one. Rebuild my factory seats, or go aftermarket. I'm leaning towards Corbeau's LG1 seats (http://www.corbeau.com/products/reclining_seats/lg1/) now, anybody have any experience with them? They sure look sexy!

I have The Corbleau suspension seat in mine and I love them. They are super comfterable even on a long drive. The kids just climb over no problem.

Do you have trouble getting in & out of them? I have some whack bucket seats in my rig right now & they are a nightmare getting in and out of them. Which suspension seats do you have?

High back after market for sure. My factory seats were good but I didnt like not having any head restraint. There is a reason no one make low seats anymore. They are dangerous in a crash. The flat stock seats are a PIA offroad as well.... you slide all over them.

If you are building a show truck I can see sticking with them... but to drive a lot... I like the high back seats. The ones you suggested are very nice. I didnt have the funds when I bought new seats so I went with the Steel Horse Super seats... I think they are sold by Smitty built now. A good seat for the money but I do wish it had a better recline and tilt method other than turning a wheel. All the ones you mentioned are nicer seats than I have. As for fliping the seats to get in the back... no one ever used it anyway... they always just climbed over the center console or over the sides if the top is off.

I got a fold and tumble rear.. it is nice when you need a little more room for your fishing gear... like a float tube or waders :)

Really appreciate you taking the time to give me that feedback Greg! I drive a lot in the Bronco, about 350 miles a a week. Comfort would defiantly be something I am interested in. I was actually told that those seats I posted are uncomfortable by the guy helping out with my install. Maybe that was just his opinion & I will feel differently.

In the perfect world I would be able to sit in them before ordering them, but thats just not possible.

Decisions, decisions......
