The wife was going through old photos & found some I'd forgotten about. 1st one is my 1st Bronco that my boss got stuck when he tryed to go through a little mud hole without locking the hubs in. I got it out & had an easy day at work that day :D . Next is the day I got my Baja in Breckenridge Co. & a couple other pics in the mountains before I drove it home to Michigan. My Baja at Broncorama 1 or 2 (can't remember %) ). and the last one is my boys waiting to go for a ride ;D .

Awesome pics. Love the old stuff. Curious if the Roll bar was painted poppy red from Stroppe, or did it get painted later on. Most i have seen were black. Again..great pics. Thanks for sharing,

As far as I can tell the roll bar has always been poppy red. I also think it came without the spare tire cover because I have a bracket that allows the spare to be mounted with the good side facing out. I started stripping the paint off the bracket & found under the black & two different orange layers it was painted Stroppe blue.

Bought it Spring of 1988 - it sat on a busy corner across the street from Walmart for a couple months when I didn't have any money to buy it. Then when I did have some money I looked at several other Broncos & couldn't find a good one. I went to do laundry one night & saw the Baja almost behind a store across the street so I walked over found the owner & got it. Didn't even know what a Baja was but it had everything I wanted & was $3000. Best $3000 I ever spent ;D .

Great photos! And the stories of finding one so nice, and so cheap of course make me envious :).

Awesome photos man. What a cool story too - love to hear the details. That tire mount is just another example of what could be done/had if you wanted. I just restored a '73 Baja for customer and it had a Stroppe-made "Ranch-hand Latch" to hook the spare tire hoop on the passenger quarter.

Thanks for sharing.

Found a couple more - How do old pictures get so spread around anyway? ;D 1st one is the boys ready to take it for a ride. 2nd was taken by John my older son when he was about 4yo - notice the 78 6" rims because I had swapped in a 77 front axle & my Indy mags wouldn't fit because of the different tie rod ends. 3rd is Scott my younger son at Broncorama & the last is in Colorado just after I got it. I think thats Arapahoe Basin in the background.
