Hey guys, many of you know I make the original style roadster metal backing plates.

Ok I'm starting a new pre-order list for backing plates. So, who needs a set???

Figure the cost at $120 per set + plus ship

Thanks Jeff

These are for factory inserts right? I think I have seen them on another site before anyway I have a factory roadster but I'm missing the backing plates for the inserts. If they are I'm interested. Thanks

Backing Plates

Guys, these backing plates that Jeff produces are excellent pieces! Used a set in a frame off restoration on my roadster and they fit every bit as nice as originals. You can't beat them! tim

Can u post some pics? Are these made for a specific Company's roadster doors?

Yes, I have had guys use these backing plates with several different manufactures of roadster inserts with little to no problems. Obviously they are not needed with the "one piece" inserts because the back of the inserts is inclosed by fiberglass to unlike the OEM style.

Thanks Jeff

PS I'm slightly embarrassed say I don't have any pics at this time. My hard crashed 6 month ago (lost tons of bronco pics ) but I have some pics on a flash drive which is mia at the moment because we just had moved in past month and 1/2 ago. So we are still digging thought boxes to see what kinds of treasures we need to unpack. lol I'll get some pics posted as soon as I can!!!

Hey Lee, yes they intended and modeled after the factory inserts! They do work with others inserts but the intent was for accurate U13 restorations. I know they are being used on several restored U13s.

I did a quick internet search and I pull up my You Tube video of my old U13 build. About 1.57 into videohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1w-4Zg4Vni0 you'll see the backing plates mounted.

Also you kind of can see plates here in this photo when my truck was sold. http://www.rkmotorscharlotte.com/sales/inventory/sold#!/1966-Ford-Bronco-U13/132003/90623

I'll try post much better pics. Thanks Jeff

Jeff, how close are these to the originals?

Hey, as close as they come! ;) lol All kidding aside... they were made from original Ford plates. Ford stamped their blanks, mine are laser cut then hand braked for the flange and the radiuses formed then TIG welded in. Needless to say Ford made theirs a lot faster then I can but the look and the fitment are just like stock! There is no pre-drilled holes in the plates because I have found the the guys on the assembly line didn't always put the screw in the same place twice. So, if your trying to match existing factory holes its best to line up each plate and mark them. I hope that answers some of your questions. If not let me know. Jeff
