Has anyone actually seen a pair of NOS Roadster inserts? Came across a set that are supposedly NOS Ford, but I can't tell for sure. Would they have been primed over the gel coat? Would the screw holes have been pre drilled?
The backside of the inserts on factory are very smooth like they are pressed between molds. Aftermarket inserts are rough fiberglass and resin on the backside from hand layups. If you ever had a close up look at factory inserts you would see the difference right away. It looks like the pressing used on the factory radiator shroud except grey in color.

I have not actually seen an NOS insert, but would assume that the holes would be there. Because, the screws are counter sunk. The backs would be grey and most likely have date stamp.

Thank you Scott! I forgot about the screws being countersunk. I figured these were not actually Ford, that the person was mistaken, and now all this confirms it.
