JB thanks for chiming in as I had the same question while I’m about to swap in the NV3550. However, which orientation should we use when using boot for template? (Dunno why the pictures seem to upload 90 degrees out).

The second picture, where the trim ring is even with the top of the existing hole is typical (unless you have more than 2" of body lift).

Awesome. Thanks for clarifying! Does the existing transfer case shifter hole need to be cut out more as well to fit the boot layout, or just trace out and cut for the shifter?

Probably not, unless you have a bunch of body lift

Hey Papy, did you get this figured out? I’m basically at the exact same spot you were then. Chassis is built, body is off, restoring/replacing damage and rust on the tub. The trans tunnel is all chopped up from a botched install of a ZF5. I’m planning on installing an AX15, probably with Wildhorses kit. I have an Atlas 3.0 transfer case, and a 2.5” lift. I need to repair or replace the trans tunnel. I’m wondering if any of the available tunnels will fit, or if not, what the specs for the hole should be. The replies you got here seem to be about the NV3550, is that the same fitment? Btw, i have no original hole to line up with, it was butchered out.

thanks!
