Anyone who has a BC coyote serpentine set up. I have a bad squeak on the ac belt side. I de greased everything. It ran for about 10 miles before it started squeaking bad. Anyone expierience this? Or have any suggestions ? When I add water to the belt the noise goes away for a little bit.
Thank you

Try belt dressing. I’ve used spray stuff successfully before just make sure to keep away from bearings (idler pulleys, ac compressor clutch, etc.) My Dad had an old school solid tar type of dressing that was rubbed directly against the belt and worked good.

my explorer serp squeaked even after i replaced all the bearings. it was an alignment issue with the a/c delete pulley. if you have a non oem componet check that first but everything needs to be inspected also look at the way the belt is laying in each pulley clean all the pulley's i dont think belt dressing is intended for serpentine belts but i could be wrong on that,

use a yard stick to make sure everything is in the same plane.

I'm having the same problem with BC serpentine set up. tried tighter belts. No luck. Did you get it figured out?

It's almost always alignment. Make absolutely sure that all pulleys are on the same plane. I still have to align the alternator mount on the '71 as it still squeaks on start-up. You can usually tell, too, when the edge of the belt starts looking a little frazzeled.

I build my own accessory brackets for P/S, OBA, etc so I bought an alignment laser for serp belt pulley alignment.

Two things I've chased here that cause belt squeal over the decades.

1- alum pulleys sometimes cause belt squeal. This was a REAL issue when many of us were converting to serp belts 15 - 20 yrs ago. Gatorback belts took care of those. Now it's call a Continental . Check this to get you started. https://www.amazon.com/Continental-Elite-4060855-Poly-V-Serpentine/product-reviews/B000C32J5O I still run these belts as they last forever and just don't squeal.

2- pulley misalignment. I have diagnosed several aftermarket serp kits (you know- the fancy chrome or billet alum ones for $2K). Squeal like a PIG. Fix the misalignment and it's gone.

Hemmer, did you get the belt issue resolved? I shipped my bronco back to BC bronco for Jason to deal with it. He put a new tensioner on said it was fixed. I drove it on a few short runs and it started chirping again and now it screams when accelerating. Can't drive it now. I'm now thinking my alternator could be flawed.

I am betting you have an aluminum pulley. And it's very common for them to spoil like hell.

This was a very common problem when after market. A woman Apollo's first came out for us.

Gatorback which is now called Continental who makes a belt that does not squeal- check it out.

I tried the Gatorback belt and several other brands. Same results. The BC system came with a powermaster alternator. Base of the alternator mounts to a block on top of the tensioner and secured to a bracket on top. No adjustment. Very compact design. Tried to check with lazer off the compressor can't get a clear shot. Does seem to be half a groove off. Thinking to try another set up but or get alternator check out. I keep a maintainer on the battery thinking its pulling too hard on start up. Going to try grounding the alternator housing better.

How much tension does it have?
Grounded the alternator making 14.29 volts at idle. Belt squeals constant at idle. Turned on A/C and stopped but squeals still squeals when accelerating. Got about 1/2" play left on tensioner. Don't see how a smaller belt would fit.

Squirt water and the squeal dissappears- correct? OK? Reread your first post again.

Do you have a laser alignment tool that sits in the serp belt grooves?

You have 2 possible issues and I'll repeat:

1- misalignment

2‐ certain pulley alloy compounds squeal with the belt. (don't ask me any details metallurgy wise) lol but it does. It was EXTREMELY common 20 yrs ago when we were first swapping to serp belts for Exoder setups and a LOT us had this issue. Mine was so bad my wife could hear it inside with the TV on and mine was idling outside!! Yes, that bad.

No room to spray water on the belt at the alternator. Only place to spray anything is before belt hits the compressor. I did spray belt dressing and the squeal stopped at idle but would squeal when accelerating. How did you fix your issue?

Replaced the belt with a Gatorback- squeak gone.

Since then, I have run a different pulley.

Mine and everybody I know had their squeak generated from the HB aftermarket alum pulley
.

I have a laser for serp alignment and the compressor to alternator appears to be off about half a groove. Did notice the alternator pulley has deep grooves that tapper up sharply to the surface where the belt rides. I know the belt is not getting down in the grooves. Pulley is very slick and smooth too.

How many inches is the grooved alt pulley from the closest other grooved pulley?

Aligning that would be job #1 and if that pulleys grooves look that much different then I'd say it's just as important to get a new pulley for that alternator. So this is Job #1 & Job # 1.1. ;)

Then try a NEW belt with the realigned NEW pulley.

Send a pic of how far off the laser light is and distance btw the pulleys
