So I found this single pole socket on my 1966 built in 1965 and came with an eyebrow grill and the question is is this from a Bronco or something else?
I have dual poles on my 1976.... The shape and fitment is identical.

Was the single pole wired to the harness?
It should be a 2 pole - 1 for brake/turn signal and one for running light. a single pole is for a side running light or backup light.
Maybe someone added a backup light since the 66 didn't come with one?

He is talking about a license plate light,,,,the single pole would need to ground through the mounting screws and either have a ground strap to tailgate or rely on surface contact at the hinges or limit straps... SO the question is did 66 broncos USE a single pole?? the 2 pole sockets ran 2 wires down and out tailgate near the left rear body mount ground wire was atatched to body at body mount bracket and power wire went into harness mine had a bullet connector ,,

That looks like a replacement one-wire pigtail / contact inserted into a factory license plate lamp.

Perhaps @Oldtimer can look it up in the MPC. If it’s factory, it would have to carry a different part number for the lamp.

Three different bulbs listed for license plate?

66/70 is #1232 bulb, with double contact
71/72 is #97 bulb, with single contact
73
____ is #1178 bulb, with double contact
74
____ is #97 bulb, with single contact
75/77 is #1178 bulb, with double contact
Industry has superceded 1232 with 1178, both have same Ford partno.

RockAuto lists #97 for 66-74 Bronco and list Wedge Lamp Base Type 194 for 75-77

So Ford says different bulbs for different years, but all have same harness?
License plate harnesses all have same mating plug to main harness, so the harness builders may have matched bulb to socket when they built harness, and we the people have replace burnt out bulb with a matching bulb, and never paid attention to bulb number.

Thank you 🙏
That is great info to know.
I suspected that it was original at some point. I would have guest 1966 as the wiring harness was not as thought out back then and ground has always been an issue with the old Broncos.
