want to rebuild my '69 and the tub is, in my opinion shot, way too much rot to save. I have a 1 car garage in the burbs with 10' ceiling height. is it a matter of just cut it all apart in the driveway or is there another trick? it'll go into garage as a rolling chassis where I can work on everything else? im located in west orange if anyone is close by to give a hand
thx

I used a splitting maul on mine. Cut it sideways behind the seats and rolled the pieces off each end when done. If I'd had help I may have done it differently.
I lived out in the country at the time so I fashioned up some overhead cross bars with some lodge poles. Centered over the wheelwells and lowered the replacement body on with 2 come-alongs.

If you’re wanting to cut it up, just post it on the internet for free and someone will come get it from you. That will save you some labor.

I have seen the engine hoist used a lot.

I instead bought the maxjax for this very reason. My ceiling is 8ft 5 inches. Sucks! But I was determined to get the body off myself! So took a shot in the dark with that midrise lift. Not really knowing if my ceiling would allow it. But I also have a very flat driveway. And the system is semi portable. As long as you 4.25 inches a concrete you can drill into. So I could probably use it outside.

Justifying it all by saying I’ll use it for so much more. And ya I do, wishing I would have bought it years ago!

Last picture is there just cuz I think it’s neat.

I did it the same way after I built my tub with a cherry picker. I actually constructed a frame to bolt through the floor with an eye bolt located at the center of gravity so it would balance pretty level. Pretty easy to do by myself that way.
Did the same except I used to eyelets for better load balancing

I'd try what 1969 suggested first.

If you're going to cut it up with a sawzall get yourself some Wilwaukee "Torch" blades. MISF & I have used them on a couple "Sawzall Accidents" and they last far longer than any other blade that we've used.

Personally, the many I have done got accomplished with a 4.5" angle grinder and a stout sawzall reserving a large BFH as backup.

Cut in large sections and flip them off the rig and keep going.

I welded in some 1 inch box tube and lifted mine off with my lull. Where you located? Has to be someone around you with a two post or engine hoist or excavator or forklift.

I unbolted the body mounts and trailered the whole bronco to the metal scrap yard, and they used their heavy equipment to swipe it the tub off and write me a check for the weight of the scrap metal. Drove the trailer home with my rolling chassis to start from scratch.
