Thought I'd start a thread to document the mods on my 2026 4-door Stroppe Edition. I probably will not do as many mods on this one as I did on the 2022 Badlands Sasquatch - No roof rack, no heated headlights, no ditch lights, no e-steps. I already have a triple light setup to go in the Modular bumper which I have not gotten around to install yet. Also Ive ordered a Curt receiver. I'm planning on doing a hidden winch setup using the Rough Country mount and I'll install a tailgate table as well. Probably some others down the road - not sure yet.

But my first (small) mod are the front and rear door storage boxes like I had on the 2022. They were very useful and prevented the stock nets from getting pushed out of shape. These are ones from Sunpie but they are the same as the ones from Mabett.

Anyone had any experience with the Rough Country hidden winch mount? It looks a bit complicated for 2.7L motor.

The journey begins . . .

Second mod was going to be adding the Curt receiver. The way Ford packages the trailer wiring they include a temporary holder for the plug that is bolted to 2 of the holes needed to mount the receiver. To remove this you need to remove the rear bumper or loosen it enough to be able to remove the bolts! I decided that was more time involved than I wanted to spend yesterday so I'll tackle that another day!!

What is your opinion on the ride quality over the badlands? I know the Stroppe has the Hoss 3.0 with the Fox shocks.

I have heard that its much better but since you had had both what is your thoughts?

It's a noticeable improvement over the 2022 Badlands SAS. It's smoother, quieter and seems to handle better. I'm really liking the Stroppe.

Only downside here in Colorado most people see it as being painted Denver Bronco's colors as most know nothing about Bill Stroppe. So they think I'm a rabid Denver fan who painted my Bronco the team colors! I am a Broncos fan but not to the point I would paint a vehicle!!

Own it and take the win! They don’t need to know (or probably care about) the truth…

That reminds me of a little exchange I had a few years ago with someone on social media about the Stroppe colors. They were insistent that Stroppe had copied the Denver Broncos colors for his cars because he was a big Denver Broncos fan. I was pretty certain that wasn't the case so I checked and the Broncos used different colors when Stroppe started using the red/white/blue on his stock cars in the early '60s. For good measure, I called Willie Stroppe and he confirmed his Dad wasn't much of a sports fan and would certainly have not copied the Denver Broncos colors - even if they were those colors at the time.

The RC hidden winch mount was delivered yesterday. I won’t be able to install it for another of weeks. Still deciding what winch to get??

If I were buying a new winch that I plan on using…… I would buy a Carbon Winch. The fastest, lightest, one finger free spooling (as in pulling the rope, not the lever) winch on the market. To have one because I might someday need it? badlands, warn VR series, most any of the nicer looking Chinese winches, in that order all based on budget.

PS: would have included a link, but I’ve done something to my profile and can’t, I need to reach out to Jon.

Yea, I started to do the RC hidden winch, removed the louvers, ground off the frame piece, but then Stroppe was announced, knew I was going to sell my 2022. So I stopped. Make sure you get the RC winch as well. Their set up is tailored to their winch. I could not get a Warn winch to work, bolt in, fit, for instance. No guarantee another winch would work.

So you have completed the install on your Stroppe?

The mount has been delivered but I have not started to install it and have not bought a winch yet. I did see a couple Youtube videos with other winches successfully installed. The RC winch does not have a wireless controller which I was wanting. Also I'm struggling with the clutch lever - how to access it??

Oh, no i did not install the hidden winch. The Stroppe came with the tube type bumper, so I stuck the warn winch off of totalled Bronco #1, same bumper, and added an over the top brush guard painted orange to match. I still have the entire hidden winch assembly plus winch sitting in my garage collecting dust.

Slowly starting to work on the Stroppe! I installed a Curt receiver today. Ford no longer offers factory installed receivers - dealer installed option or aftermarket. They do provide some of the wiring - not the control model but some of the wiring to install the OEM 7-pin. This is good and bad! They protect the wiring by mounting a metal cover to protect the plug BUT you have to remove the rear bumper to take off the metal cover which uses 2 of the holes needed to mount the receiver. Not that hard but still a pain in the butt! I just mounted the receiver. I have not yet purchased the trailer module.

I needed the receiver installed because I'm putting the Stroppe in the local 4th of July parade and it will hold a flag.
