    What will it cost?

Yes, but if that screw up damages the block or heads, you'll be out more money than if you just paid the shop to rebuilt it for you in the first place. Do you have the tools/experience to take the engine out and put it back in again? If so maybe that's where you can save some money, and still...

    What will it cost?

For just the engine rebuild I can give you my recent experience in AZ. About 9 months ago I called several engine shops about doing just machine work on my 289, which I wanted to assemble myself. Most of the shops I called didn't want to even bother with just machine work. They were too busy, so...

    Best practices for selling?

You know what classic 4x4 would be great to pull that little travel trailer? ;) Just giving you a hard time Kerri! I totally get it. Priorities change, especially as kids get older. They get interested in certain things, and it's fantastic if you can share that with them in their teen years...

Pictures of broncos in national parks?

Santa Fe National Forest around 1995-1996. Sorry for the poor quality. No smart phones back then! Camped with my buddy and his '72 Blazer for about 5 days without seeing a single other person. Very cool trip. And Moab around 1994-1995, then 15 yrs later. :)

    test photo upload order

Correct. Other than the person posting, no one else is going to know what order the photos are supposed to be. I can't speak for @gnsteam but I was just testing to see if when I uploaded multiple photos, the forum would keep them in the order I selected, or insert alphabetically by file name...

I'm scared to try my rebuilt engine

If it was the solenoid buzzing (bolted to the fender near the battery) then it's probably that the battery wasn't providing enough juice. Or the solenoid is bad. Or wire connections are corroded or loose. I would check all those things before thinking it's the starter. Did it really run for...

I'm scared to try my rebuilt engine

@Nowik35 did you actually run the engine yet or just crank it with the starter for a bit? If you haven't run it yet, below is a checklist I made for the 289-2V I just rebuilt and started for the first time last week. Agreed that it was stressful, but turned out well for me after a couple of...

    Hawaii Broncos

That green and white one has been there for years, although looks like it's been painted recently. Always in front of the same shop near Kaanapali. I've been to Maui a few times over the last 20 years and always mean to stop in and see who's it is. I'm sure they work at one of those shops.

Checklist for initial start of a rebuilt engine

Success!!! We were finally able to run the engine for the first time today. Maybe fate was being kind and making up for all the road blocks we had to overcome to get to this point, but everything went extremely well. It fired up right away, but wouldn't keep running the first couple of times...

Checklist for initial start of a rebuilt engine

We haven't started the engine yet, but we fixed the carb gas leak at the pump diaphragm. We successfully tapped the one stripped screw to the next size up, but also noticed the pot metal pump cover was badly warped. So we sanded it back flat again with various grit sandpapers laid on a sheet...

Checklist for initial start of a rebuilt engine

Unfortunately 1 more day of not being able to start the engine. We rebuilt the carb, but in doing so we also found one of the pump diaphragm screws was stripped, so we couldn't get a good enough seal to not leak gas. Not exactly the situation I want when starting a new engine. So...
