Thanks all, I found a reputable rebuilder close by and plan to take it there for a work over and determine the stall. Will go with the WH or Toms shift selector as well. Will the Lokar C4 kick down cable work on the 4r70w as well?

Torque converter - Donor transmission is from a AWD 2000 V8 Explorer rebuilt with AA installed ready to go. Ive read the stock converter will work fine but to source a new/rebuilt one. 4r is going behind a wormed up 351 roller with torque cam, qjet, headers and GT40 heads. 35" tires with 4:30...

Finished the DIY 4r70w rebuild. Will be a few months before I can give it a try. Still need funds for the controller etc.

I tore it down again and found that the lip on the thrust bearing between the planetary carrier and the direct clutch was hitting the bushing in the planetary carrier. I used the old bushing to recess the new bushing in the carrier and that did the trick. Assembled it again and nice smooth...

Hey all, Im using the Transmission Bench rebuild kit and video series. Its gone very well and the videos have help identify bad parts that Ive replaced. I have the drive system installed and its when I get to the pump is where I may have an issue. Once I install the pump and torque the bolts...

Rebuilding 4r70w myself using the transmission bench videos and rebuild kit. Got it torn down and will give the case a bath tomorrow. Innards looks pretty good.

Not today but at Matt's Offroad Recovery Games a couple weeks ago. Got stuck and floored it. Broke the drive shaft slip yolk, bent the shaft and cracked the splines. Guess my new 351w does have a lot more torque. This is what's left and my new garage trophy. Luckily, I found drivelinetech...

3d print or bullet oversized steering column bezel? Might end up being way out of proportion. Seat heater switches are about that size.
