Aft Door Weatherstrip Won’t Stay Glued

I was all fired up to tweak the upper door, but looking at the picture above, the upper aft window frame/door is too-tightly yet perfectly matching the top’s contour. I never adjusted the upper door while I had the doors off, but I definitely messed with the top. I‘m thinking if I could push...

I’ll give it a try. Thanks!

Aft Door Weatherstrip Won’t Stay Glued

I have a 1973 EB that underwent a frame-off a few years ago. Both doors close a little tight, but nothing dreadful. I can’t get the drivers rear window vertical weatherstril to stay put; I’ve used adhesive a half-dozen times - a few weeks later it’s flopping around. As you can see below the...

Door Skin Crack At Latch Screw Countersink

BTW, don’t use a #12-24 NC screw longer than 1/2”. The latch won’t latch if you do. Don’t ask …

Door Skin Crack At Latch Screw Countersink

    Force of habit, I suppose!

Door Skin Crack At Latch Screw Countersink

I thought of a third way to mitigate the crack. In aircraft, we frequently augment worn dimpled fastener holes, with something called a Tinnerman washer. I have some #10 size in stainless of these on hand. The machine screws of the latch are an uncommon size; #12-24 NC thread with an 82 deg...

Door Skin Crack At Latch Screw Countersink

I can check out the fitment on the inside but I’d want to do something cosmetically for the crack - stop drill and bondo, maybe. Thanks, Ron

Door Skin Crack At Latch Screw Countersink

“Today at 8:14 PMI used these, i had cracking on both doors and this solved it https://www.cjponyparts.com/cj-clas...LRP2/?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=18909117275” Thanks, B’n B. It looks like somebody’s already worked out idea #1. Maybe it’s the same one used on Mustangs, too. I’m inclined...

Door Skin Crack At Latch Screw Countersink

My ‘73 developed this crack a few months ago, and I’m pondering what to do about it. I’ve come up with 2 ideas: 1. Make a stiffener out of 3/16” steel to fit around the protruding latch with counterunk holes to match the existing screws, and use that to clamp on the skin, distributing the...

EB Cadillac Eldorado Rear eBrake Fix

ksagis, I never had trouble with the foot eBrake with rear drums, but my hand-welded cage got in the way. So the foot pedal had to go. Enter the Lokar floor-mounted hand lever. At the same time I put the cage in, I also added the Cadillac Eldorado rear brakes. With the Lokar hand lever...

EB Cadillac Eldorado Rear eBrake Fix

This mod diminishes travel while increasing mechanical advantage when compared to the stock lever arm and equalizer rod location. I haven’t actually measured it, but my impression is that the Lokar floor lever has a shorter pull or travel in comparison to the OEM foot pedal.

EB Cadillac Eldorado Rear eBrake Fix

I replaced the foot pedal eBrake with a Lokar floor mount lever. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have mechanical advantage to lock the rear wheels. Here’s the stock equalizer setuup: I lengthened a new stock lever arm 1-1/4” by welding on 3/16” x 1” mild steel stock, and drilled new pivot and...

    Fitech back to Carb....

“That is exactly what I have, flawless operation to date. Why he is not charging way more, I guess he is a great guy, and is.” That’s what I think now that I’ve seen what plain jane Autolite 4100’s go for: $750

    Rear view camera

A few years ago, I mounted a Master Tailgater’s LCD Mirror similar to their current offering, and tried a few Amazon license plate camera’s and hit upon one that I could mount on a homemade bracket which fits in the tire hole on the swing mount. The only problem I had is that the connector at...
