A friend at work gave me these. They look pretty cool. Does anyone know anything about them? Are they period correct for our Broncos?

Those are junk put in a box and send em to me and I'll dispose of them for you!
Seriously those a cool and period correct. Those were top of the line back then. On par with Cibie. Lights today are more powerful and more efficient but not as cool. Nice score!

They probably use an H3 or H1 bulb. If they are 55W bulbs and you want more light from them (at the expense of increased heat) you can go to 100W bulbs.

Thanks. Friend told me he used to have these on his VW bug and was going to throw them out. My build is a couple years from done (at least) but I'll put these in a safe place.

My dad had a vintage set of those that he let me put on my first 4x4, a 1982 Datsun. I was a stupid 16 year old and I trashed them. That is one of my big regrets. Take care of those!

Depending on diameter, deopth and age, they are worth bug money to the vintage sports car crowd, if you are looking to sell them. I had a couple sets as well as some Cibies when I was dabbling in 60s era Porsches and sold them for anywhere between $300 and $600 per set.

Thanks House. This is what it looked like the previous year, when it was just the decal, before the lights. ;D

Same trail, before the cutouts and 32" tires.

Now all we need is... More cowbells!

You can just see the cowbell hanging from the light tab on the grille-guard (from the "lights on stock bumpers" thread).
Oh, and more hats too, from the Jeep and Buggy crowd that had all hung around to see what they assumed at the time would be a stuck Bronco. Since Broncos couldn't easily do what Jeeps could, of course...

I haven't seen a set of those in a long time, in fact I had forgot about them until I saw the pic with the cat on the cover, good score.

Hey Donk I love the old pics.

...Hey Donk I love the old pics.

Thanks. I love sharing them whenever I can. Posting them up brings back great memories.

That crowd in the last pic was a good group of guys we'd just sort of hooked up with on the Rubicon. A little off-beat in their vehicle choices perhaps...
IMG_0006 (Large).jpg ,but a great group.

This was taken by Buck Island. They'd never seen a Bronco do any hard trails up to that point, and got a big kick out of us going through each obstacle.
We had some more fun at the end, when we helped push one of their dead buggies up the last bit of Cadillac hill so they could work on it off-trail.
Evidently the old "dump the clutch and wheelie over rocks" method of four-wheeling was a little hard on the equipment.

After that exercise, we all sat around eating sandwiches and drinking their wine and champagne that they'd figured were "trail essentials" for that kind of trip.

Fun stuff. I'd probably have a heart attack if I tried pushing a buggy at 7,000 feet now!:(
Wonder if they're all still around and still wheeling?

[hijack] More hats & glasses.
Don't know those buggy guys as they weren't part of the Dune Buggy Brgade, but feel a connection.

Hah! About as much fun as you can have on four wheels, is what those buggies were!

Those buggies were really popular here in the 70's and 80's
