Just got back from the AZ stampede. My daughter and I had a great trip even though I had a few issues on the way down.
Brand new starter motor died half way through WA. Only had about 15 starts on it and it dies in the middle of a blizzard. NVRSTK, Brian let me use his garage for diagnosis. Found the problem and picked up a replacement as I left town for later repairs. Good thing I still run a manual trans because I roll started it until Utah when the weather was better to change it. Somewhere in OR the power steering pump began to loose pressure. limped that to Phoenix and replaced that. The relief valve seems stuck. To top it off, my Lowrance GPS died in NV.
Caught up with friends, met a few new ones. Did a lot of wheelin. Laid a lot of black powdercoat on the rocks. Had a lot of fun. On the last obstacle of the last trial, I was over half way over when the truck slipped down off the boulder. The horn of the rock went into the door opening. Putting some damage on the insert, but worse it locked the truck there. Using a high lift and Taads help I managed to lift it up enough to get it out and around the boulder.
I thought I had made a clean run but at ten days old I christened the paint , a new record for paint life for me. Its all part of the fun.
We headed home sunday morning. Keith bought us breakfast just before we left town. Sunday was my birthday and what else better than checking out Route 66 and camping in Death Valley. On Monday we went to Reno for the night with a quick stop at Summit. Tuesday we decided to make the run for home, we left Reno late morning and drove straight through to home arriving at 4 in morning on Wednesday.
