I recently started installing a 93' 5.0 EFI engine in my 76'. All was going relatively well until i tried to install the intake plenum, it is hitting the stock throttle linkage at the firewall. I would like to know if anyone else has had this issue and how did you modify the linkage not only to clear the plenum but connect to the linkage on the engine as it is on the opposite side.

You should remove the stock linkage on the firewall and x2 on using the BCB kit. You won't be using any solid linkage rods like on a carb. Cable linkage only way to go on efi.

Remove the old linkage and use this:

http://www.bcbroncos.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=131_108&products_id=712

I'm using it on my EFI conversion. I'm using a Explorer T-body but I think the kit was designed for the Mustang.

IMHO; I had no luck with the BCB kit. The cable has too far to travel to come around and pull from the front and the actual cable type + sheathing isn't a good matching and drags making the throttle response slow and pedal slow to return.

After messing with different springs, pivot wheels (Vipr mod), etc, I finally threw the whole thing in the trash and went with the Lokar setup from Duff. It pulls from the rear, is way smoother, and half the overall length. Much better IMHO.

Can you post a picture of your firewall?

I'll try and snap a pic but what do you want a pic of on the firewall? The cable goes into the same hold as the old linkage and attaches with the included hardware. With my 351w it's a bight tight in there but I can try.

The return spring in the kit IS junk. I didn't use it. I made my own return spring setup. In fact, it's off the old carb setup from the 302 I took out coupled with the donor van throttle cable.

I have had the best luck with stock Mustang 5.0 cable and bracket. After reading over and over about the issues with these aftermarket cables & brackets I don't know why anyone bothers with that crap. Mustang 5.0 is so easy to find and factory solid.

I have the BC broncos kit but I couldn't figure out how it mounted to the stock pedal. I haven't read any issues with it.

I had the same experience, and ended up having to reposition the ball stud to get the proper ratio. After that, the cable had a lot of internal friction, so I replaced it with a Lokar cable ($50) and the problem went away. Another issue I ran into is the bracket has a tolerance issue where the trans kickdown cable connects, and you couldn't adjust the kickdown slack while assembled. The setup is working now, but the return spring that came with the kit needs a bit more umph for my liking.

Reading this thread is just a small glimpse into the problem as the replies stack up. Search BC throttle cable for the last few years, there have been numerous threads over the years where people are looking for help or squawking about the aftermarket being less than ideal.

That sounds like a lot of work vs. the Mustang bolt it on the tb end, heat up the throttle pedal arm & twist it, grind off the ball stud, drill the hole, done. Pretty easy and rock solid once it's connected.

I love the lokar stuff, very well thought out. BcBroncos makes lots of cool parts, put lacks in customer service. I called and emailed a few times about returning a product that didn't work and they never wrote back, I finally just shipped it back and still no response.

I also bought an ecu bracket from them and still no response about how to install it.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the input. Since I posted this yesterday afternoon I have talked to a couple local EB owners and they suggested the Mustang linkage, just as Matt suggested. I am on the hunt for one now. I'm trying like hell to get everything done in time for the SuperCelebration in Townsend next month. Wish me luck!

I used the stock explorer cable. Drilled a new hole above the stock hole in the firewall. Then added length to the gas pedal twisted the top of the pedal linkage 90degrees drilled it to match the end of the explorer cable cut a slot in the top of it and re installed the gas pedal. bend pedal linkage to adjust . works great.

Not entirely true. They say anything can be done if you want to spent the time and money. Check this one out... http://northwestclassicbroncos.com/...our-Bronco-today&p=82335&viewfull=1#post82335

Check that out! Drivers side facing TB too.

What you explained on the pedal end is the same mod that has to be done with the Mustang cable. Easy and works good. ;D:cool:

Glad I'm not the only one having issues. Got the BC kit and did have to mod the throttle plate bracket, but understand its for a Mustang and I'm Explorer. My issue is this...see pics....anyone else got this issue? should I just move the Firewall pass through hole down?
